Anaheim clearly figured they were too good to win the Cup this past season, as the players must have grown overconfident. Lose some good players, replace them with garbage - problem solved. Now, if they could only convince Edmonton to trade them Eberle for Perry, they'd be shoe-ins...

I thought Anaheim was the clear cut #1 after these puzzling moves and shaky goaltending we are probably right there with them to win the pacific.

Remember when mudcrunch 'proved' that Horcoff was one of the top centres in the league. Good times!

the best part of one of MacT's first press conferences

I don't see them taking a step back
Beauchemin is equal to Bieksa
Hagelin is a great pick up, will do some serious damage
They will likely flip a goalie for additional help

They are just as strong as last year IMO

+ Hagelin, Bieksa, Horcoff, Khudobin
- Etem, Beauchemin, Beleskey, Palmieri, Wisniewski

I like the Hagelin addition, but otherwise, the Ducks are having a horrible offseason IMO.

I'd say Palmeiri and Hagelin are a wash.
Beachu to Bieksa is a big downgrade.
Wiz didn't do anything so they gave Karlsson and 2nd for Khudobin.
Now they have to send Gibson back to AHL, he won't be happy about that.
Horcoff is an ok bottom liner at this point.

Imo they're weaker, if Bieksa was playing for the Ducks against us in the 2nd round, could've rattled that team.

I still remember when Mac T was on the TSN hockey panel (when he was job-less) and said that Horcoff should be on the Canadian Olympic team.

This almost has to be the result of some drunk bet with a rival GM..

That, or Anaheim just looking to muscle some compensation out of Chia after they caught word Edmonton was about to make him an offer that would see him become the highest paid member of their scouting staff, with spot duties as goaltending coach.. Wonder if compensation would still be required for players under contract being taken into management roles? The new "Oiler rule"?
