Could Care Less
This has been discussed in the free agent and trade rumour threads and was reported before the Hamilton acquisition.

Wouldn't mind Franson only if he gets a 2-3 deal, and Wideman is dealt.

Millions tweeted the Flames aren't done tinkering with the blueline so there is a possibility this could happen.

Flames should pass on this and focus on resigning our core guys

Hoping that has to do with the bottom pairing and using them for future assets.

If what Treliving has done so far hasn't earned fans trust yet I don't know what will. Who are we to say what they "Should" do and not do? What they will do is what will happen and we all just get to watch. I have the upmost faith in this management team rght now and if they think moving in Franson and moving out another D man is something they want to do, I trust them.

Dozens, hundreds, maybe even thousands but millions seems a bit much.

With Wizard Treliving negotiating the deals I might be fine with this.
Imagine going into next year with:
Giordano-Hamilton
Brodie- Franson
Russell - Wideman
Engelland
Russell (Hudler & Jones) expires after 15/16 and Wideman/Engelland after 16/17.
Flames could probably make it work IMO.

Franson is 5 years younger and 5 inches taller than Wideman.
To Detroit:
Wideman
To Calgary:
2016 - 2nd round pick
2016 - 3rd round pick
-------------------
Franson, 5 years, 5.25M per (Wideman dollars).
Giordano - Hamilton
Brodie - Franson
Russell - Engelland
Schlemko, Diaz

I believe we definitely could snag a 1st for Wideman, and more...

Franson has been on many team. The fact no one retained him might mean something?

Wideman could fetch way more than that.

Heh, I could really see Tree pulling of an asset management coup like that.
Sign UFA Franson to a deal
Trade Wideman for assets with his value at an all time high
Get younger, bigger on the back end, and have more assets in the bank
TJ Brodie - Hamilton
Giordano - Franson
K Russell - Engelland/Nakladal/Morrison

would you really split up Gio and Brodie? I though that they were a pretty good d pairing.

I wouldn't be afraid to try it, especially now that we don't have a shortage of righties and don't need Brodie to play on his off side anymore.
Hamilton and Brodie have a serious chance at being one of, if not the best D pairings in the league for the next 10 years.
...and Gio is no slouch, he can anchor a #1B pairing with just about anyone IMO.
