Flames Friedman: Flames aggressive in trade market. Getting calls on Hudler.

per Friedman

if you ask around one of the most active teams in the trade market are the Calgary Flames

have made it clear that they won't do anything that inhibits their ability to re-sign Giordano, Monahan and Gaudreau

have gotten calls on Hudler but the return has to be "worthwhile" to pull the trigger

Hudler contributed so much to the success of Gaudreau and Monahan this past year, I would feel very nervous trading him unless the return was out-of-this-world.

i think treliving is aggressive in that the flames want a plethora of draft day deals available to them when they get to florida.

it coincides with what burke said about having potential trades worked out in advance of the draft. i really think that the flames are in a unique position that allows them to have a plethora of interested trade partners. very good to hear that they've been working the phones IMO

Great news. It's a great time to be a flames fan right now, too bad there aren't any rumours of the Flames trading a first rounder for a backup. I hear that's what champions do.

Also interesting is that they said Detroit is willing to move Mantha and/or their 1st round pick.

they really seem to have soured on Mantha. Not a good sign if a patient franchise like Detroit is willing to give you up that early.

Has there been any info leaked about Mantha and the Wings? He seems to have fallen out of favour after putting up just 15g 33a in 60 games in the AHL after such a dominant end to his time in the CHL. He was looking like a steal of a pick a year ago and now there's been several rumours about Detroit being unhappy with his progress...

He's an intriguing player with his size and scoring ability, but it seems like a red flag that Detroit is even entertaining moving him.

If the Flames could net a huge return for Hudler, that'd be interesting.

I'd also be fine with them cashing on Wideman's massive season as well if some GM wants to pony up big time.

Key here being "HUGE return"

We are still rebuilding after all, and both those players probably won't ever have seasons that good again, or at least consistently from here until they hang them up. However, whatever the Flames might get in a "HUGE return" could definitely be a big part in the Flames Cup contending window.

Wings vice president Jim Devellano cameout a few weeks ago and said:

“Very, very, very disappointing,” Devellano told Fox Sports’ Keith Gave. “And I say that with a lot of sadness. Coming out of junior, we had such high hopes for him.”

Default Friedman: Flames active in trade market

Hiller + Hudler, WSH 2nd for Allen, Backes, maybe Oshie?

Might be to lopsided on our side maybe

When a guy like Devallano says something THAT strong about a 20 year old kid, you have to believe its something to do with conditioning or off ice choices...whether that be alcohol or something along those lines.

That's as big a red flag as one can ever be given to stay far way from that player.

I love what Hudler has done the past two years. I feel like he's been a big part of the new culture this team is developing. Having said that - he was a top 10 scorer in the league last year and his value could not possibly be higher than it is right now. I'd be willing to listen to offers that's for sure.

In 62 games. anyone know why he missed 20 games?

Healthy scratched would be brutal but maybe he was battling a injury.

that seems like an excessive response from Devellano for a half a point a game first pro season from a mid first rounder.
