As I mentioned recently in an earlier thread, there is simply too much footage from Gaudreau's rookie season not to split it into 2 videos. This contains the Penticton tournament + pre-season + the first 41 games of the season.
This is the first video I've done where there might be as many impressive highlights that didn't lead to goals as those that did. What a ridiculously exciting first season he had, we're so lucky to have Gaudreau in our core going forwards!

What an unbelievable talent. The amount of chances he sets up for his teammates is amazing. He could've been a 70+ point player if some of those chances went in. His agility/speed and ability to dodge checks is amazing as well.
Like I said when another Gaudreau video was posted a little while ago, a lot of these highlights will be redundant.
So I went out of my way to include some of his heads up defensive plays as well as rushes that didn't lead to goals (ie: his 2 passes vs Montreal to Glencross and Byron).

Man that NJ game was unreal...that was the game that it seemed like the fans realized that the season and group of guys could be something really special.
The crazy thing about his season is Johnny didn't have that many goals where he picked a corner and plain beat the goalie. He definitely has that in his repertoire so I can only imagine what he's gonna be like next year when he can do that a little more often. Also, if he can learn to elevate the puck at the end of his dekes, I can see an extra 10+ goals added to his totals next year.
What a player and what an absolute steal in the 4th round!
Half the season and only one glimpse of "The Boyz 'n' the Huds", and that was in the LA comeback.
I don't know if can remember a forward and defenceman having the type of chemistry Gaudreau and Wideman seem to have. I think Wideman figured out early that when you're on the ice with Gaudreau, just find an open spot on the ice, put your stick down, and Johnny will somehow put the puck on your blade.

Yeah Wideman had better chemistry with Gaudreau this past season than majority of the forwards. Gaudreau's so freaking good. It truly is a bewilderment watching him play for the Flames.

Goosebumps with that Cole call... "in front...scramble... score. They tied it! They have tied the game in Calgary! Wow!"
