Hard for the Sharks to blow it up when Thornton and Marleau refuse to waive their NTC.

Sharks have to ride this out until those two have a change of heart.

34 years old.

I wouldn't want to be signing a regular player that old to a 3 year contract.

Almost all non elite guys fall off the cliff sometime in their mid thirties.

Marleau has a no-movement clause and Jumbo Joe has a no-trade clause in which he adamantly wants to retire a Shark. Both are like the Sedin twins where neither wants to be separated. So, they'll be a Shark for 2 more years until UFA.

I like 3 years for Joel Ward honestly. Thats a good signing for SJ. Brings some fresh blood into the lockeroom. Don't think it'll help them gain ground in the Pacific but it's still a decent signing.

I'm a Joel Ward fan. I would have been pretty happy for the Flames to have done that contract. 2 years would have been better, but 3 would've been ok.
