The Minnesota Wild are pleased to announce the acquisition of Blake Wheeler. The veteran forward arrives via a deal with the Avs that sees Nazim Kadri and the 20th overall pick head the other way
GM Farhall:
"Blake is a great all around player that rounds out or top two lines. We think we can play him in a variety of roles, and he will be a great mentor to some of our younger forwards. With him and Scott Hartnell now part of the team, we think we have a better balance of youth and veterans."
Wheelers a good sim player and consistent nhl performer. That said, I can understand the contract concerns for pat as I also didn't want to pay that. Should be a good fit for a young minny team, though.

Yeah I've got the cap space to take him on even at that rate. He's been pretty consistent, and I've got a good stream of young guys coming in that allows me to absorb a hit like that for the next 3 years.
