Where to find good patio furniture

I'm looking to buy patio furniture, more specifically some sort of sectional set.

The thing is I'm going to patio stores and finding prices of $5000-$10000 for a set. I'm sure it's great furniture, but I doubt I spent $5000 on ALL the furniture in my house!

I get it, you want good, you pay goodly. But surely there's a reasonable medium to be had?

Where can I go to get reasonable patio furniture at a reasonable price? Along with that, what should I look for to determine good quality vs bad? I haven't a clue on what the difference between $1,000 furniture and $10,000 furniture is, or how to spot it.

Costco.ca is great. I bought a set this year and couldn't be happier. Always something on sale as well. Free delivery too boot

I had this dilemma as well. The patio furniture I looked at was either $100 or $5,000 with almost nothing in between.

I'd recommend Costco as they sell quality stuff at decent prices. Rona had almost nothing for selection (same with Home Depot) and Lowe's had some but was mostly picked over. Patio furniture sells fast so you need to be quick. I settled on a few items from Canadian Tire. Not as high quality as Costco but good enough for me and nowhere near $5,000.

I sort of pieced together my set over time. Some is from Ikea, some from Jysk, some from Costco and some from Lowe's. Total cost was still a couple thousand, but much cheaper than those ridiculous $10k sets. The weather here does not permit for spending that kind of money on something that's going outside.

Honestly I got my patio dining set from Walmart 5 years ago at the end of season. 6 chairs, table and umbrella for under $200. all are still in good condition. It's not some luxury lounge set, but the price is a little hard to argue with.

Could be tough this time of year, but I got a nice set off of kijiji. My set cost $300, and I'm sure it would have been a few thousand to get something similar new.

We got our section from Ikea about 4 years ago. It still works and looks very good. I think all in was $1000. We took the savings and bought a propane fire table. All in was about $2000. Cushions included.

IKEA is the place to go for sure, as other mentioned our harsh climate and short season make the $10K sets not worth it unless you are covered and have overhead heaters blasting you.

Check out Pier1 Imports. Not huge selection, but they have some good quality sets at a fair price.

What do those tables run? And how are they plumbed in, if at all?

The fire tables? They're connected to 20lb propane tanks behind the chairs (can't put a tank underneath for obvious proximity-to-fire reasons). These ones cost $450, and look really good for that price, but you can spend a couple thousand if you're shopping at Restoration Hardware.

In that picture, furniture is Ikea (maybe $1500 when I bought it for 8 chairs, 4 chaises and 2 side tables), fire tables are as above, rugs were about $130 each at Lowe's, heaters were $250 at Costco, lights were $57 for two at Costco, seat cushions were from Home Depot USA (had to get them to ship cross border). On the other half of the patio you can't see in that shot there's a high-top table from Jysk you can't see, a bar table I just made myself, and two big storage boxes for the cushions I got from Wal Mart that I think were $400 combined. And a grill, obviously. So it's pretty much just a mishmash of stuff.

Cushions were the only hard thing really and that isn't even a problem if you're buying a new patio set, I just needed to replace the old ones and it can be a pain to do if your furniture has odd measurements.

right now there is a patio furniture outlet store open up on macleod right across from chinook.

it is a temporary store and i have not been in there so i am unable to speak tot eh quality of stuff

Those stores sketch me. If they're "pop up", they're also collapsible, and suddenly they're gone and you have no product support. You know that Ikea's going to be there, at least.

And for example those patio heaters? One of the parts had a fabrication error and the wicker started unraveling on it. Took the part back, they opened up another heater and gave me the part out of that one. Took 15 minutes. Costco is still really great for peace of mind, so as much as my advice is "shop around and get stuff from different places as you find good stuff for good prices", I think I'd lean towards Costco as much as possible.

Costco is good for price and quality.

The Bay during bay days can have some good bang for your buck too. Got a whole dinning table set for just over 1000

There is also a place on 14th St NW (3rdEye I think) that sells stuff like Corsi has. 450-14 Street NW. Not super expensive.

We got ours at Walmart 11 years ago, and got some a couple of years ago at Home Depot.

The thing I find with patio furniture, regardless of what you pay, you need to look after it. Specifically you need to make sure it it put away during the winter. None of our stuff has seen the light of day between mid-Oct to Mid-May, and that has made all the difference.

Winter kick the crap out of patio furniture.

Ensure you look after it and put it away for winter.
