Exclamation [Video] Russell - 13/14 Highlights

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oS0EXH5RY0g

As I mentioned recently in another thread, Flames offseason means the onslaught of player videos begins for me.

This was the last 13/14 video I still wanted to do, so now I'll start to churn out the 14/15 videos.

Gaudreau, Mono, Hudler, Gio, Brodie, Bouma, Backlund, Rookies, Colborne, Russell, Ferland, Comeback Wins. That's my plan of attack.

Also for hilarity:

Kris Russell was traded to Calgary for a 5th-round draft pick.
The Blues felt he was expendable after they added Jay Bouwmeester and Jordan Leopold.

Just got a you tube notification. Thanks for all the time you must have to spend on these AC. Awesome work.

I take Bouwmeester on my team any day, but I take Russell ahead of Bouwmeester at this point. Made sense at the time, but is laughable in hindsight, especially about Leopold.

After Gio went down at the end of the New Jersey game, Russell had 5 goals and 21 points in the last 31 games, including playoffs.

0.68 points per game, pro-rated over a full season is 56 points.

Logged over 26 minutes per game too.

He was +9 thru the first 26 games as well, but got crushed for a -8 in 5 game series against the Ducks.

Still, pretty swell pick up for a 5th round pick.

love the player that he has developed into, but remember that every team in the league passed on him on waivers. That is because he was garbage the season before for the Blues. He was fighting with Leopold, Ian Cole and Wade Redden for ice time

Can't wait until 2014-15 Kris Russell video. Should be 20-30 minutes of solid shot blocking highlights. ;-)

Just got all the Gaudreau highlights placed from the regular season...

1 hour and 39 minutes... I'll have to work some magic to condense it to do an acceptable length. I still have they playoffs to add too. My god.

Do a trilogy. 1st 41, 2nd 41, playoffs.

BAM!! Problem solved. Your happy, we're happy...

Honestly, I think I will have to split Gaudreau's season into 2 parts.

I will legitimately have about 40 minutes of condensed highlights, which is just insane. But I'd rather put out 2 long videos than cut highlights that should be included.

Very true... I bet the Flames didn't know he would be this good either, otherwise they would have taken him off waivers or tried to trade for him earlier (rather then make the trade, IIRC something about how they could save a few bucks off arbitration or something). Probably thought he was serviceable and could challenge for a spot at best.

Also, this is just my opinion but I don't think he becomes as good as he did without Gio/Brodie. I think Gio/Brodie really set a system that made it ok and accepted to jump into the rush that Russell did, and he flourished under that system. He probably wouldn't have had the career breakout elsewhere.

Yeah definitely don't take out good gaudreau highlights just to keep the video small. We have a long summer I'm sure I can fit in over an hour of gaudreau watching over the next few months
