Default New York Islanders 15/16 Season Thread

Post from 8 months ago

First of all, thanks to the Commishes for being open to having me re-join the league. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I came back.

State of the Isles

On paper this team is not good.

FORWARDS
Read - Fisher - Ott
Cole - McClement - Fehr
Neil - Bouchard - Smith
Glass - McKegg - Kobasew

Fehr, Ott, Fisher, Read and Oduya all have decent asset value up front.

DEFENSE
Oduya - Allen
Strait - Rozsival
Pardy - Ellerby

Oduya is definitely our best defender, and him and Allen are by far the two best assets.

GOALIE
Andersson
Francois-Berube

Craig Andersson will be the reason the Isles do well. He's starting in OTT too so at least we have a solid #1 tender.

PROSPECTS

This team had very few prospects, no 1st rounder for 15' and 16', and very few assets on the CPHL team to show for lack of prospects. So this will be a work in progress to build up a pool of prospects.

So far we have the following:

1) Jason Dickinson - Captain of Guelph Storm, power forward
2) Nick Paul - involved in Spezza deal
3) Jamie Oleksiak - 6'7 giant playing full time with the Stars this year
4) Jason Zucker - playing full time with the Wild now
5) Adam Lowry - Playing full time on the 3rd line with the Jets
6) Brian Dumoulin - Almost made Pens, great moving 6'3 d-man
7) Joey Hishon - Bit of a forgotten prospect, high end offense but needs to show it
8) Dane Fox - Huge offensive output last year, rising Canucks prospect
9) Cameron Gaunce - First call up for the Stars defense, strong on the back end.
10) Andreas Johnson - Late pick in 13' won SweHL Rookie of the Year last year

We are lacking a true Blue-Chip prospect but have a number of Tier 2 prospects that can be part of building long-term for the Isles.

Isles Direction

We like making deals. I will be icing the most competitive team I can, especially based on SIM performance so far. But I simply want to make trades that help build out the organization's assets.

We plan on building out our prospect pool and icing an improving CPHL team. We'll see if we can do those in tandem or not given the assets.

We have the luxury in the CPHL of making a million trades, unlike the GM's in the NHL. So knowing that, I plan on trading a lot, meeting new GM's, and re-connecting with old ones.

Isles have improved their Prospect pool recently through a # of trades. Also some shuffling has taken place among the rookies since we've seen about 1 month worth of activity.

PROSPECTS

1) Connor Murphy - Playing 20min a game for the Coyotes as a Top 4 Dman. 6'4 and can skate
2) Jamie Oleksiak - Playing 15min a game full time. Reports are he's performing very well.
3) Jason Zucker - Has emerged early so far. With Parise out will be interesting to see how he steps up.
4) Nick Paul - 4th in goal scoring in the OHL. Looks promising to make WJC. There's a reason he was included in the Spezza deal.
5) Adam Lowry - Has been moved to Centre and while he hasn't lit up the scoreboard, he's been playing very strong for a 20yr old rookie.
6) Brian Dumoulin - Has been involved in trade rumours as the Pens are looking for a Top 6 winger. Has progressed very well and will make an impact.
7) Joey Hishon - After a slow start has been much better the last few games and looks to get a sniff with the struggling Avs.
8) Jason Dickinson - Captain of Guelph Storm, power forward who is on PPG pace.
9) Mark Visentin - Former 1st round pick. Has progressed steadily so far. Not much action this year due to an injury.
10) Andreas Johnson - Late pick in 13' won SweHL Rookie of the Year last year and is well ahead of that pace last year.

We also have a 1st (15') which will add a solid rookie.

Our prospect pool has improved steadily, but we are still missing a true top tier blue chipper. We are hoping a few of these guys continues to progress and emerge as one, or we find one through a trade.

Default Isles 2015-16 Roster - Lots of Changes

We've been in the league with the Isles for about 8 months now and have made some substantial changes to the roster.

Roster as of today

FORWARDS

Oshie - ? - Ryan
Anisimov - Matthias - Zucker
Lowry - Jarnkrok - Neil
Bollig - Josefson - Nolan/Reaves

Forwards are a lot younger, overall a decent improvement, but a #1 centre is still a glaring need.

DEFENSEMAN

? - ?
Chiarot - Wiercoch
Prout - Falk/Strait

Our defense hasn't gotten a ton better unfortunately, and we are still missing 2 Top pairing d-men.

PROSPECTS

In order to upgrade up front, we had to move out a number of prospects but have managed to keep some guys in tact and even make improvements.

Biggest adder is Poulliot.

1. Derrick Poulliot - Blue-chip stud. Hoping he has a breakout year in Pittsburgh. Looked very good this year as a 20 year old.
2. Mark McNeill - Was one of the better Hawks prospects this year in the AHL. Likely to make the Hawks this next year.
3. Nick Paul - Played WJC and had a great year. 6'3 power forward who had nearly 40 goals this year.
4. Stuart Percy - Smooth skating dman who will likely play for the Leafs this year. Solid outing as a rookie last year.
5. Lucas Peressini - OHL Goaltender of the Year. Likely to get drafted or signed this coming year.
6. Mark Friedman - 3rd Rounder for the Flyers. Had a phenomenal rookie year in the NCAA.
7. Raman Hrabarenka - Huge 21yr old dman for the Devils. Highly touted by Devils management.
8. Berube - Have him ranked low due to the fact he is behind Quick. Playing phenomenally well for the Kings farm club.
9.Collberg - Hoping he has a rebound year. Great skilled offensive guy but unfortunately hasn't shown enough yet.
10.Visentin - Out all year with an ankle injury. Needs to play great this training camp to still be on the Yotes' radar.
