Richards was not on our target list, but we still feel he has some good hockey left in him and will be relied upon more in Chigago next year. The real goal here was to add a few more young pieces that are trending upwards and we feel we hit a home run there.
We added two young prospects that according to my sources would have been much higher draft picks had the draft been held again today (possibly even a first rounder for one of them), and also picked up another mid 2nd rounder to help bolster our ECHL ranks a month from now.
Plekanec will be missed but this Rangers club needs to focus on building for the future and he was never really going to be a part of that.
