Default Most memorable moments of the 2014-2015 Calgary Flames

Tried to do a search, didn't see anything on memorable or favorite moments. Thought it might be nice to look back at the magical season that was and discuss our favorite moments/memories.

I'll start, I think Johnny Gaudreau getting the natural hat trick vs. the Kings to end the 8 game losing streak was a moment for me.

This is also pretty great and always brings a smile to my face

Mine actually is when Bob Hartley got his 400th career win and the team gave him the fireman hat.

Can I say all of it? Even the 8 game losing streak is memorable.

October 23 when they blasted Carolina. Same night we got our new pup. I like to think she brought the team luck ever since. Until she clearly dropped the ball in round 2.

Game 6 against Vancouver. So glorious watching the Canucks fans go by to get their beer after the 1st, all cocky and happy, as the rest of us just gave them the "yeah, we'll see" eye roll and wave. And then to drink their collective tears the rest of the game. So amazing.

Might tie Game 6 against Detroit as my favorite live game ever.

Game 6.

So many moments worth mentioning, really more than the last five seasons combined, but Game 6 is by far the most memorable moment of the season for me. I will never forget it, just like everything that happened in 04 (only 6 in 89). Magical season on so many levels but the greatness of Game 6 was legendary. So many reasons why. Down 3-0? 4-3? No problem, we got this. Matty Stajan with the SWG. Ferland smashing everyone. The big line ripping them apart like it's me playing NHL15. Winning at home. List goes on and on.

So satisfying, especially against that team. Almost as much as seeing the deflated, soul crushing looks on the faces of their fans. It was like when Lisa Simpson breaks Ralph Wiggum's heart. So cocky at 3-0, then just total despair as the Flames eviscerated Ryan Miller for the remainder of the game. For me personally, I live where Canuck support is roughly 75%, Oilers 20%, Flames 5%... so yeah, it was pretty great stuff. Almost makes up for 5 years of arrogance and derision.

Hillers HUGE game against CHI in the United Center. Broke that curse with an insane goaltending clinic.

Gaudreau

Monahan showing there's no such thing as a sophmore slump

Jiri Hudler

Ahhh hell with it, then entire season was amazing!

An absolutely incredible number of fantastic moments - truly an unforgettable season in that regard.

But on top of all of them, for me, stands Matt Stajan, calmly corralling the puck, taking a moment, and then burying a perfect shot over Miller's shoulder and into the upper corner for the game winner and series winner against the Nucks.

My seats had me basically looking over his shoulder with a similar view to what he would have had. And for some reason, when the puck went to him, my thought was 'take your time, Matt'. He did. And then one of the best goals I've ever had the pleasure to witness live, happened.

The person. The situation. The team. The opponent. Perfect.

Game 6 is the top highlight. The Flames beat my most hated rival in a playoffs series that never seemed in doubt. Up until this season the Canucks have basically owned the Flames since 2010. Beating them in our own barn 7-4 coming back from 0-3 on a Saturday night. It was the most entertaining game I have ever been to and was an emotional beer fueld roller coaster.

I managed to watch 77 regular season games plus all the playoffs. The LA 3 goal comeback was one of the games I missed

Most memorable moments:
1. Game 6 Vancouver
2. Game 3 Anaheim
3. Game 1 Vancouver
4. Playoff spot clincher vs LA
5/6. Either game vs Boston
7. NYE vs Oilers
8. Johnny Hockey breaking out vs Jets after Healy comments

More memorable moments this year than any other year, including 04, 89 and 86.

The one that brought the most sense of relief and satisfaction... Gaudreau, Monahan, Hudler! 6-4 EN in game 6. Was my first "holy s... we did it!" moment.

October: Chicago game when Hiller shut them down and the "unsustainable" phrase was first talked about by the "experts" (Johnson in this case).

November: Though the comebacks were already happening, the NJ game was the best of the lot up to that point, coming back from down two twice, and a S/O win on a Saturday night.

December:Kings game just before Christmas breaking the slump with the 3 goal comeback.

January: Kings game again, with Wideman OT winner. Steam was starting to pick up.

Feb: Boston game with Brodie's OT winner took over as the comeback of the year to that point, after Flames looked very poor for most of game.

March, the month of the unheralded defenseman: Schlemko's goal was really the moment where it seemed it was all actually going to be ok, and that there was something special afoot, after Gio going down the few days before and the quiet trade deadline where there wasn't playoff push help arriving.

Honorable mention in March to Engelland and his only 2 goals of the year to help gain a point vs Dallas at home, and the next Dallas game on the road, Diaz with a beauty shoulder drop and wrap around to help win that game.

April: All came down to the Kings game, all the 80 previous games (and the last few seasons' worth) came down to that, at home, with a chance to clinch, and they did. The biggest game of the year IMO, even including playoffs, and they pulled through.

Playoffs:
1)Game 6 Vancouver...didn't go to Game 3 ANA, but from my ticket buddies, Game 6 was crazier. The pandemonium after Stajan's goal, which basically seemed like an OT goal the way both teams were playing it out, ranks in the top 3 or 4 playoff experiences (and I was at all the Games in 2004 and most since then, and in the mid 90's as well). GO ahead and watch the extended replays...the uncontrollable jumping from fans, the full hugs...that was going on everywhere in the Dome for a full minute of real time after that goal.

2)Game 3 Vancouver - After the Game 2 ending, and of course the 1st playoff game at home in a while, this was huge. Moreso, it was a great game between the two teams; back and forth, enjoyable from start to finish with the Flames coming out on top.

3)Game 4 ANA - Score with 20 seconds left and a home OT playoff win. Can't ask for more.

4)Game 1&2 Vancouver. The Game 1 win was the difference in the series; the Flames lose that and its probably going 7. Game 2 got me so pumped up for Game 2, with Engelland gladly taking on, and taking down, two Canucks at once...the best "loss" of the season for the Flames, as that gave the team a focus and not as distracted by all the returning home hubbub.

And, let's also not lose sight of this: Flames were 5-0 vs. the Oilers...I think we've swept them 3 of the last 5 seasons, if not, pretty close.
