April 14 Practice - Ramo & Byron on the ice. Monahan leaves practice early...
Ramo could be close. Practicing before the main group and appears to be good 2 go. Ortio is missing and if Ramo is good 2 go, then his emergency recall ends and has to be sent down to Adirondack
Quote:
Rob Kerr @FAN960RKerr
#Flames Ramo on the ice with goalie coach @JMSigalet which should be a sign he is getting closer. @Sportsnet960
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Ortio was here on emergency recall, so him not being on the ice would lead you to believe Ramo is good to go. #Flames
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Ramo is a full participant at practice as well. Looks just fine. #Flames
|
and now Byron has joined. first non-contact jersey then full contact jersey
Quote:
Rob Kerr @FAN960RKerr
Yet another good sign for #Flames as Paul Byron out on the ice for practice. @Sportsnet960
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Byron skating with #Flames this am.
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Good to see Paul Byron back on the practice ice for the #Flames this morning. Wearing a baby blue no contact jersey.
Jermain Franklin @TSNJFranklin
#Flames Byron traded in the non contact powder blue for a red jersey... What are we talking about!?!? #practice! #playoffs
|
Monahan and Russell have returned after getting the day off yesterday:
Quote:
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Sean Monahan skating well with #Flames. Ramo back as well.
Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
#Flames C Sean Monahan and D Kris Russell are both practising today. RW Paul Byron skating in a baby blue no-contact jersey.
|
Sam Bennett Watch:

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
Meanwhile, #Flames C/LW Sam Bennett once again working with second PP unit. Sure seems like 18-year-old will be in lineup in Game 1.
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Sam Bennett front and centre on every drill. Starting to believe he is in for Game 1. We will wait and see.

update:
Sean Monahan leaves practice early:
Quote:
Kristen Odland @KristenOdlandCH
C Sean Monahan just left the ice here before the #Flames tucked into PP/PK drills. Granlund filling in for him ATM.
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Sean Monahan leaves ice. Not good for #Flames if that guy can't go.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
With Monahan gone, #Flames lines are:
Hudler-Colborne-Gaudreau;
Ferland-Stajan-Jones;
Bennett-Backlund-Byron;
Bollig-Granlund-Jooris
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Caution not to read too much into lines today. Monahan leaving throws everything off. Hartley said yesterday he'd play in game 1. #Flames

no one officially knows.
Friedman reported groin the night he got injured, but that was before the MRI. Flames haven't said anything about the MRI results

If Ramo has been cleared to play tomorrow then that means Ortio's emergency recall is over and he would have to be sent back down.
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Ramo is on the ice this morning as well along with Hiller. No sign of Ortio though. #Flames

I wonder what is going on with Byron? Hopefully he'll be able to play, love the speed and competitiveness.
I'm glad Ramo is back in there. I think Ortio is going to end up being the guy, but that'll start next year.
The big question today is if Bennett sticks with Backlund and Colborne.

Pretty sure it's an ankle injury for Byron.

I haven't played goalie since surrendering 11 or so in a tough outing in novice ... but #Flames G Karri Ramo looks pretty good to me.

If Monahan isn't healthy that is going to hurt the Flames. Hopefully it's just precautionary.

I have a feeling they're just getting Monahan as much rest as possible. He doesn't need practice anymore.
