Default Omar Khadr back in Canada

I have somewhat mixed feelings on this. It wasn't right the amount of time he spent in Guantanamo but on the other hand I wish his whole family would leave Canada and never come back.

http://www.vancouversun.com/Omar+Kha...434/story.html

Quote:
Convicted terrorist Omar Khadr was quietly returned to Canada early Saturday to serve out the remainder of his sentence at Ontario's Millhaven Institution.
Khadr was flown from Guantanamo Bay Cuba where he's been incarcerated for a decade to Canadian Forces Base Trenton around 7:40 ET, Public Safety Minister Vic Toews said at a news conference in Winnipeg.
The 26-year-old was then transferred to the maximum security prison in Bath, Ont.

Once he gets out, his life is going to be very challenging trying to operate as a normal human being in Canada. He is too well known, and for all the wrong reasons.

There should be one of two things he should do: Either he goes and lives as a mountain man in Nunavut and away from everyone, or he leaves the country altogether. I prefer the latter.

He should have been jilted with stones, but that is probably too humane for this turd.

What did it cost Canadian taxpayers to fly this POS back to Canada ?

that wouldn't hesitate to come into your home with a bomb strapped to his body and blow you and your family away.

15 is a child ?? Most children don't know how to operate grenades or how to build detonation devices. You seem to be sympathetic.

He knew exactly what he was doing. He is a terrorist and should never have made it to Cuba, let alone back to Canada.

There's no question he's a victim in this. He had the bad fortune of being born to a family of religious nutjobs who indoctrinated him from birth, robbed him of a normal Canadian life, and sent him overseas to become a child soldier. It's his parents who are the real criminals in this case.

Agreed but you could say the same about a lot of criminals too. Just because they had a sh**ty childhood doesn't make them any less dangerous as adults. I feel sorry for him in some ways, but it doesn't make me any more likely to wish he lived next door to me.

The only good thing about this is that when he is paroled they can put conditions on his release.

If he had been released from Gitmo he would have returned to Canada with no strings attached.

There's a difference between a ####ty childhood and your entire family structure steering you into a mindset.

This is a bad situation ... although I'm sure in the time in Guantanamo has mellowed him

He came back to Canada alive. He's a disgrace to his mother. She wanted a martyr.

I believe we should amend our laws to provide that new Canadians, who indulge in activities that threaten the security of our country, will lose their Canadian citizenship and must be deported forthwith.

How would this new law effect Khadr? He was born in Canada.

Where would he be deported? Just because someone looks brown doesn't mean they weren't born in Canada. Your comment would fit right in the Calgary Sun Comment section.

It would not affect Canadian citizens born in Canada, and therefore would not affect Omar. However it may have helped to discourage members of his family from participating in activities that threaten the security of Canada, and involving Omar in those activities.

I could see the person being deported back to his original place of citizenship.

Looking brown has nothing do with what we are talking about.
