Mother Day for Wife
Alright, so I'm brutal at this so asking for help.
What the sh***t do i get the mother of my kids for mothers day from them (3 of them)? I was thinking daughter (6) and mom could get their nails done together, but then need something from the boys (8 and 3). I'm not looking to bust out hundreds of dollars and I'm looking for something where she can relax (she doesn't do massages).
Thoughts? Ideas? Ways i can cheat and pretend I have these wonderful ideas?

I'm no expert either....
But I would suggest hire a baby sitter, and take the missus to a nice ass restaurant in like, Kensington, then take a walk along the river, snap a few pics by the chinese finger trap bridge (no selfies) and voila. It'll be just like old times.
The kids don't need nuthin. They have birthdays and Christmas.
PS: Say the restaurant part was "from" the kids, and the romantic walk is from you.

I have nothing to add to this thread, except a stat from AshleyMadison (the adultery site) that said their highest increase of female membership is the day after Mother's Day.
So uhh... no pressure.

Its not a day worth celebrating if its not recognized with a day off or specifically for kids. I feel even more strongly about fathers day. Useless days to get people to spend money so they don't hurt peoples feelings. I could get my wife a gift everyday of the year but forget mothers day and never hear the end of it. BS I know, she's a lucky one.

The gift should come from the kids, not you; the 8 and 6 year old in particular are probably old enough to come up with ideas. It doesn't need to be anything expensive - crafts are great. The kids (and you) showing appreciation is what's important.

Only troutman?
So she tells him she must go out for the evening
To comfort an old friend who's feelin' down
But he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin'
She is headed for the cheatin' side of town
You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin eyes
On the other side of town a boy is waiting
with fiery eyes and dreams no one could steal
She drives on through the night anticipating
'Cause he makes her feel the way she used to feel

In all seriousness, I think you should try to have your kids involved. She is their mother after all.
The spa thing with the daughter is a nice idea. Maybe have the boys cook her dinner (you can help).
I always found mom appreciated stuff like that much more than some random gift.
My 2 cents.

I'm sure you really don't want one, but here it is anyway:
We must say goodbye
There's no need for you to cry
It's better that I tell you this tonight
Our affair has been quite heated
You thought I was what you needed
But the time has come, my darlin'
To set things right
I'll be harder than yer husband to get along with
Harder than yer husband every night
I'll be harder than yer husband
Harder than yer husband
An' I don't want our love affair
To end with a fight

My wife and I do the same thing for each other on Mother's day/Father's day. I take the kids to the dollar store, or Wal-Mart or somewhere. They have to pick something that they want to give her. It doesn't have to be any specific thing. It is just something that comes from the kid's hearts. Amount of money spent on a gift should be irrelevant. The thought put into it is what matters.
On top of that I take them to a gardening center and each kid picks out a hanging basket of flowers for her. My oldest tries to find the flowers with the colours that most resemble the Calgary Flames.
Then, from me, I let her sleep in on Mother's Day AND on Saturday too. This year I'm gonna splurge and let her have Friday too (just in case I win tickets to the Flames game on Friday night and get home late).

Call your MIL, ask her what your wife gave her for Mothers Day as a child that she treasured. Then have your kids make or get that for your wife. That's gotta equal mega brownie points for all the thoughtfulness.

I've got a similar challenge. We have one child, a one year old daughter. To complicate things I just broke my ankle, spiral fracture with bone fragments of my lower fibula. I'm totally laid up and can't do much. Ordering flowers is about as much as I can do.

I know this is probably an every day occurrence for half this board, but for Mother's Day last year, we got a maid in to give our house a deep clean. It's what my wife asked for. She mentioned it again this year, so that's probably what we'll do.

I find that Schools have kids make tacky Mother's Day presents and that's enough for me.
Really though I facilitate the kids ideas, sometimes they are terrible and don't make much sense but when they want to make Speghetti with peanut butter and cucumber sandwiches for their mom for breakfast I help. I let my kids decide and go with it.

I told my family a long time ago that I don't need stuff. We have enough stuff. They know I love the mountains so usually we just round up the gang and head out there. Sometimes we hike, sometimes we just wander Banff and this year we'll probably haul the bikes and go for a boot around, then supper wherever I choose. I love when they do that.
Pseudo, flowers will be fine. If my husband was in the same boat, flowers would be lovely. If all else fails, follow Northend's excellent suggestion.
