Not that he was ever going to be signed by the Flames, but I'm glad it's official. Poe is shedding a tear though.
The laziest, high skilled player in the league.

Good fit IMO. We'll see if it works out. Contract year Semin is no joke.

Semin on a 1 year deal: Great hockey player.
Semin on more than a 1 year deal: Hot garbage.

Habs need goal scoring. If he works out could be really good for them.

Contrat de 1,1M $ pour Alex Semin. #canadiens
very low risk, if the Flames weren't so overloaded with forwards I wouldn't have minded taking a chance on him for that contract

I think he would have been good on the Flames and he'll do ok on the habs, and I mean by his old standards. He's in a contract year and has something to prove. He's a player that will get lazy if given the chance and should only be signed on a 1 year deal.
I think he'll play well this year and get a good amount of points then in the off season he'll sign a bigger deal for 2-3 years and that contract will be an anchor.
If this deal is for 1 mill or so, it's a good deal.

That's fairly insane, no matter how bad he was last year. Former 40 goal scorer being paid like a 4th liner. Put him with Galchenyuk, he probably pots 20, right?

"Prove it again, Alex!"
I seriously think 1 yr deals like this are all he's going to get until he retires.

No. If he performs well this year, he will probably get a longer term deal. Even if he somehow is signed to another one-year contract, if he manages two seasons of good production, then he will definitely get a multiyear deal.

Wow...that's a very low salary and I would have welcomed him at that cost. Next to no risk as if he fails, you can ship him to the minors and get him out of your dressing room ASAP.

Well, I wouldn't want any part of that multi year deal,

1x1 is about right. Montreal needs scoring and he can score(if he is engaged). Low risk, high reward.

I am so happy we didn't sign him, we just don't have the space. It seems like he would be a good fit for the Habs. I would rather one of the rookies/prospects earn a spot on the Flames than bring in this guy. No room I think for someone who is notorious for being lazy and not a team guy.
Good no move by BT.

I hate Semin and all that he represents as a player.
But at 1.1 for 1 year. I'd take him.

The Habs need some secondary scoring outside of Pacioretty and Plekanec. This is a smart move for them.
Montreal stills need more depth upfront and on the blueline. An significant injury to Pacioretty, Plekanec or Subban would be difficult to overcome. An injury to Price and the team is in the bottom half of the league. The Habs kind of remind me of the Flames circa 2007-2011 in that a great goalie is hiding some of the teams flaws.

Anyone else finding it weird that he signed to stay in the NHL for such a low rate? Why didn't he just go to Europe?
Doesn't exactly strike me as a guy who wants to prove something. Weird move.
