50/50 Draws Gone Nuts
Even though I am a long way away, I am fascinated by the record 50/50 draws at the Saddledome over the past couple of games.
Last night's income reached nearly $264k, meaning just shy of $132k for both the winner and the Flames Foundation for Life. That is some serious coin. Compare with the 50/50 from the Labour Day Classic Stamps/Esks game, which was about $76k.
As yet, the Flames site is showing last night's jackpot has yet to be claimed so if you bought a ticket check your pockets (if you can find your pants). Could we be seeing a rollover for the next game? If so, could the jackpot top a quarter of a million?
EDIT: Maybe not... sureLoss'd below!

There won't be an immediate rollover, since the winners have 30 days to claim.
The funny thing is that giant 50/50s primarily seem to be a Western Canadian thing. Nearly everywhere else I have been, the draws are sub-$10k.

I went to a hockey game here in the UK a couple months ago and the 50/50 jackpot was about £400.

On the flip side, those were probably pretty good odds to win.

First thing I do at the game is blow $20 on 50/50. It's a ritual now.
I've never even come remotely close though. I think I got the right letter once.

Just looking at the Leafs and Canadiens 50/50 jackpots, it looks like the typical draw ranges from between $50k to $80k, and I imagine that they are at the high end for Eastern Canada 50/50 draws.
I always buy them. Those and home lottery tickets. I'm a junky for those.

It's definitely a Western Canada thing, growing up out East I mean they had them but they were mostly smaller. I also remember they were more popular for football games than hockey. But yeah last night was huge and that $350,000 in Edmonton last year, I mean that's pretty much enough to buy a condo straight cash. 50/50 is serious business out here.

Yeah, I should have mentioned Habs are high too. I haven't been to ACC, so had no comparison there, but for Blue Jays games, they cap it at $10k for most games, and $25k for big games. And they rarely reach that. But I've been to sold out baseball games with 40,000 people, and a good jackpot will reach $10k.

The letter just indicates how much you paid. "A" is a $5 ticket, "B" is the 3 for $10, and "C" is the 7 for $20.

And its almost always C. Looks like 4 or 5 B's have come up this year, the rest are C's.

Forgive my ignorance, but who is the charity? The Flames Foundation? Or various ones?

Probably because most people likely throw $20 down on the 50-50

That was my buddies wife that won, she always wins draws and prizes and seems to have crazy good luck with those types of things. A few years back she also won the 50/50 at the stamps game....

I am guilty of twice being under the impression of winning with a buddy. Boarderline demanding our cash at Customer Service desk until it was pointed out we were approx 10 000 tickets off.
I guess after a few Dome beers and not confirming the FULL number assists in the downfall of this sad 50/50 buyer

I was there and sent $20 with a buddy. He was gone for an hour and couldn't even get close to a seller.
