It's neat hearing stories about how people became almost famous, or had brushes with celebrities....
The closest I came was being one of the last few kids considered to play baby Clark Kent in 1978 Superman. It went to Calgarian Aaron Smolinski. I don't recall any of it as I was 3 at the time, but at least I could have claimed I had a full frontal nude scene in a Hollywood blockbuster. This is all according to my mother.
I was an extra soldier in the film Legends of the Fall. I actually got a really awesome death scene and was supposed to dive on the ground next to a 'mortar' but over did it, stubbed my rifle in the ground, bagged myself with it, while busting the plastic bayonette off. I was writhing in sack pain ruining the entire scene. It made the director mad and I got sent way to the back as and had to be a medic. During a break, I said "Hey." to Brad Pitt. He said "Hey." back.

I used to play street hockey with Sidney Crosby in front of my house in Cole Harbour, N.S. He used to whine and bitch a lot. I would push him onto the lawn. He was a few years younger than me and I didn't know who he was.

Outside of some NHLers that I grew up with or met a few times, I had a smoke with the band "Finger 11" in behind the building where x92.9 broadcasts from if that counts.
I met Kevin Connelly outside the Staples Centre in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals that LA won. It was a great experience and of course went on to watch LA Kings win the cup. I bought a single ticket and was 8 rows behind Brodeur.
I was in Chicago last week and noticed an old dinosaur in a long tan jacket. Then I noticed his bag which was a Wayne Gretzky's hockey camp bag. The label tag said Bobby Hull. Sure enough it was him.
Back in 96 Global came to my school and I got to be one of the experts who tested Christmas toys such as Gooey Louie, a Gameboy, Tickle Me Elmo and some board games. I played with fake boogers on the local news

I sat next to Steve Jobs on a business flight back in 07. Asked him if he'd ever seen that spoof MadTV did about a product called iPad. He said he didn't think it was funny.
I told him it'd be cool if they made something like a laptop without a keyboard, where you could just write on the screen and it would be easier to carry. He laughed and said that was stupid.
I asked him what he thought of the chicken Kiev. He said he thought it sucked.
I put my headphones back on and watched movies. He never got up to use the bathroom, so I wasn't disturbed and eventually fell asleep.
When we landed, he said he really had to take a pee, so I let him out so he could leave the plane before me. He said thank you.
I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic.
Or if he was actually Steve Jobs.
True story.

I played with a band called Full Circle on the Calgary club scene for a few years and we were actually booked to open for Rhymes With Orange when they came to town in the spring of 99, but our bass player ditched last minute because his cousin decided on super short notice to get married that weekend and we couldn't do the gig. Later that fall we were supposed to record a demo and send it to Randy Bachman, and again our bass player flaked out, this time quitting the band and blaming us for his drug problem. The band never really had the same chemistry after he left and we ended up calling it quits for good in late 2000. I guess I just wasn't meant to be a rock star.
We did manage to share the stage with Trooper, Kim Mitchell, and Zuckerbaby, and I got to meet a tonne of cool people. Jann Arden, Our Lady Peace, Moxy Fruvous, (before Jian Ghomeshi was a perverted ######) The Waltons, Barenaked Ladies, Sloan, and Spirit of the West. I hung out with Great Big Sea one time before their show in Lethbridge, and man can those guys party.

Back in grade 5, Doug Flutie and some other BC Lions came to my school for whatever reason. Anyways, Flutie came into my class and sat in MY desk to sign autographs. Being stupid grade fivers we fought over that chair for the next few weeks....

I was on the Buckshot Show in 197-something. I was standing in the front row and my zipper was down. Buckshot was cool about it. -- I stood in line at Expo 86 with Loni Anderson. So hot. -- I turned 18 in Joshua Tree, CA and climbed with Peter Croft.-- Billy Crystal taught at a screen writing fellowship I did in 1993. -- Petted 1995 Kentucky Derby winner Thunder Gultch (teared up over that one) -Long dry spell. - Last year had dinner with Jane Seymour.
My high school English teacher went into politics and ended up the deputy leader of the Reform Party, back in the day - still in contact with her 30 years later - she was an incredible teacher and I'm glad I get to call her a friend. Kid and I met and talked to Strombo for a couple minutes, in Banff, a couple of winters ago. Hubby used to hang out/party with a guy who ended up being a part of Shania Twain's band. That as close to 'brushes' with fame as we've gotten lol.

In terms of NHL players, I've met Monahan, Max Reinhart, Backlund, Eberle, The All-Star (Heatley), Iginla, Commodore, Kobasew, and the entire 2013 Coyotes team. Got to go into their dressing room which was pretty cool.
Played hockey with Morgan Klimchuk and against Hunter Shinkaruk and Matt Dumba... In peewee... They kept getting better from there, I didn't!
Went to high school with Brayden Point (Tampa Bay Lightning prospect).
Got drunk with Tyler Wotherspoon at Cowboys a few years back.
Outside of hockey I've met a few musicians. Went to a Dropkick Murphys show a while back and they bring fans on stage. Got to sing a cover of "Taking Care of Business" with Al Barr (their vocalist). The names probably don't ring a bell but you might recognize their bands, others I've met include Ken Casey (Dropkick Murphys), Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), Brendan Kelly (The Lawrence Arms), Chain Reaction (The rapper who used to always sell his CD outside the Saddledome), Dean Murdoch (FUBAR movies). Shook hands with Carly Rae-Jepsen (sings Call Me Maybe) but didn't really know who she was at the time.
Saw Ken Jennings (Jeopardy dude), Zac Effron, and some actress from CSI who's name escapes me at Disneyland.

Does it count as a brush with fame if I went to school for several years with Aaron?

Back in 2010 my wife and I visited LA. Saw Colin Ferrell at the hotel pool bar.
Later that night we figured we would catch a movie at Mann's Chinese Theatre. The only show playing that night was MacGruber, but we decided to see it anyways.
Before it started we noticed Kathy Griffin behind us, and some of the stars of CSI. After the movie (which was a blast since the whole audience seemed to be into it), we saw the entire SNL cast. We briefly chatted with Will Forte and got a pic with him. Nice dude.
....Kind of. So my Great Uncle was involved in real estate in California and his business partner and freind was a spitting image for Pope John Paul II. He was officially endorsed by the Catholic Church as an impersonator and appeared as the Pope in several Movies. It was pretty exciting because at the time, one of the Naked Gun movies was just released and he was in it. So really I met the Popes "stunt double" who was friends with my Great Uncle.

Got to shake hands with Mike Tyson at the Spearmint Rhino in Vegas (he was in the middle of making it rain for some dancer with dollar bills...tough times before the Hangover).
Met Eric Dickerson (NFL single season rushing champ) in the washroom of Oceans in Scottsdale (awkward urinal scene...ie 'hey your Eric Dickerson!).
Hot tubbed with Donovan Bailey at the Resort Suites in Scottsdale, friend challenged him to race....he graciously declined.
Chatted with Charles Barkley (NBA) on the driving range of a course in Phoenix....back when he had perhaps the most horrible hitch in his swing in the history of golf.
