Default A rundown of all the greatest moments of the 2014-15 Regular Season

1) Jonas Hiller's beast performance to win in Chicago
2) Johnny Gaudreau's big night against the jets to start his career
3) 5 goals on Carey Price (better in retrospect)
4) Big comeback to beat the Panthers 6-3
5) Big comeback win over the Devils
6) Ramo's consecutive shutouts
7) A Josh Jooris Hat Trick

And then came the losing streak. AND THEN CAME THE GAME THAT SAVED OUR SEASON. Johnny's natural hat trick and Giordano's INCREDIBLE OT winning goal.

And then things got rolling with another huge win over the defending champs, who were still ahead of us in first place the division at the time while we were battling vancouver for 3rd place... that game was stressful as hell as we tried to defend a 2-0 lead for nearly 50 minutes.

And then we started losing again, three straight including the Florida debacle that made me want to cry...And then came Ortio. He saved our season a second time with a shutout agains the Canucks that we so desperately needed.

But that day the Flames went into LA? We were due to lose. You don't beat the defending champs three straight times. You especially don't steal another game in their home building. You just.. don't. And then they did. Monahan's takeaway and snipe to tie it and send it to an OT where Wideman hit the camera? Does it get any more dramatic than that? What a GAME! That saved our season.

And then Ortio was sent down and we were all nervous... and Hiller played lights out. He saved our season.

And then Hiller went cold we tried to ween Ramo back and the team played like crap in front of him VS Boston. And then we won that game anyways because team knew that every point would add up. That TJ Brodie OT winner was nothing short of mind-blowing... it saved our season.

Then we went on the worst road trip of the season and Mark Giordano got injured. Our season was over.

And then it wasn't.
Ramo played lights out,
Hudler, Monahan, and Gaudreau evolved into the most awesome scoring line since Spezza/Heatly/Alfredsson
David Schlemko's shootout winner saved our season
a 4-0 comeback saved our season
Deryk Engelland became an NHL Defenseman and scored two goals to save our season

And then tonight. Our season wasn't saved tonight. It was loaded.

What.
A.
Season.

Let's hopefully add: Sam Bennett and Tyler Wotherspoon's first game of the season to that.

Yeah absolutely no doubt what the turning point was, the LA comeback to end the steak before Xmas.

However, a ton of other improbable things adde up to this as well. All the comebacks, our record head to head with LA, the Hiller game against CHI, and the Brodie pinball goal against BOS.

Stolen points all year added up.

The road trip that Gio was hurt on made this team much closer and created a greater bond amongst the players. You knew by the way they played that they were not going to give up on this season and decided then and there to win it for Gio.

You can't teach character. Either you have it or you don't and we have a ton of it.

I have lived in the northeastern US my whole life so only see the Flames play in person 0-2 times a year. Couldn't stomach paying the money, traveling, and going to see them the last couple years. But this year with the extraordinary, unexpected resurgence, I made it to two games.

I was in New Jersey about 15 feet from Giordano when his season ended.

I was at their next game in Philadelphia when this team took an enormous step forward when absolutely nobody gave them any chance.

Turning point.

You know what? I started to believe during the losing streak. There was a game against Chicago where we lost 2-1 to extend the loss streak to 5 games iirc. I thought to myself that this team never quit and played Chicago hard. Chicago was on an absolute tear at that point. I felt that even though they kept losing, they were playing hard and kept improving.

Johnny made a big gaffe that game, but I was very happy to see that it didn't cause him to grip the sick any tighter or change anything that would have inhibited the magic he kept putting on display all season. This kid is a pro, and I am so very proud of this team, and what they have accomplished despite being labeled as a probable last-placed team. GO FLAMES GO!

I know we lost the game in the SO but coming back in the game in Ottawa was pretty awesome.

Hartley picking a player in the shoot out who the Flames just picked up on waivers, then that player shocking the entire Flames nation with an amazing gwg. Those 2 pts Schlemko delivered proved to be huge.

Gio's OT winner where LA was coming on and he just decided to attack from neutral ice instead of dumping it he out muscles the entire left side of the Kings and cuts hard and dekes in the goal past Quick. That has to be considered.

It's weird we can pinpoint an exact date, but I totally agree with you.

That is indeed 12/22/14, the game that saved our season the most out of all the games that saved our season.
