We'd be absolutely ####ed if Hiller goes down tomorrow during the LA game so if Ortio can play then that would be a huge relief.

I'd sure feel more comfortable with Ortio on the bench than Theissen.

Joni Ortio, recovering from a high ankle sprain, just having a chit-chat with Brad Treliving at the moment.

Both Ortio and Mason MacDonald have been in Calgary seeing Flames doctors about their injuries and recovery plans.

Bouma is nowhere to be seen:
Roger Millions @RogMillions
No sign of Lance Bouma this am. Upper body injury. If he doesn't show up. That's not good. #Flames #toughcustomer
Assuming Roger means he can't find Bouma off the ice

Bouma really should be on the ice. He only played half the game last night. No way he is injured, have you watched him this year? Bouma is indestructible. I don't get the sudden lack of dedication. Is he starting a mutiny or something?

Every time high ankle sprains come up on the radio, I hear them mention how they ruin your whole year. Anyone have an idea if it's different for goalies?

If Ortio was healthy, then it's a much closer decision. But since he's on one healthy leg, roll with the guy who has 25 wins and a .917 save %.

They'd start Hiller even if Ortio was healthy and if Hiller get's injured they could do an emergency recall.

Not sure about the goalies, but Crosby sustained a high ankle sprain before so I don't think it's true that it ruins careers.

I don't see anything in the CBA preventing them from swapping the emergency recall on Thiessen to Ortio.
i.e send Thiessen back down and recall Ortio on an emergency basis
That being said this is likely Ortio's first full practice since he got injured. Doubtful he is cleared to play/be the backup for tomorrow or Saturday
It is a good sign that he will be available for the playoffs though

To me the bigger question is if Bouma can't go does Bennett draw in. I know some are saying Bollig should get the nod to confront the size of the LA Kings - but i think you beat the Kings with speed rather than size. Would love to see Bennett get the nod.

I think Boston did this a few weeks back with their goalies, they were playing hot potato with the backups on emergency recall basis.
