Default What if you could play the Oilers every game?

** Updated to include Apr 4th game **

My apologies for not putting this in the "Oilers are No Good" thread, but I thought it was worth some separate debate.

Here is something I've been wanting to do for a while, but the fact that I mentioned to an Oiler fan how we were 5-0 against them this year and he accused me I was "Cherry Picking" my data pushed me over the edge.

What if you could play every game vs the Oilers? Obviously that can't happen, but what if we were to reconstruct the last 82 games of Flames vs Oilers? So I did.

I will post the raw data below (Hopefully for someone to make a graph or something out of it?), but the summary is:

Flames 51 wins, 26 losses, 2 OTL and 3 ties. (I had to go back to 2000).
= 106 point season.

And the best part is -> those 82 games start with the Flames going 2-7 (with 2 ties) (2000-2002). So there's literally no chance for the Oilers to improve on that record in the next two seasons. It can only get more dominant for the Flames!

Of note:
- From Dec 31st, 2008 to Jan 21, 2012 the Flames went 18-2 vs the Oilers including streaks of 7 in a row and 9 in a row

- Since the Oilers first tank-job, the "Fall for Hall" in 2010, the Flames lead the series 19-6. Tanking doesn't work you tankity-tank-tank-tankers!!

- The Flames are currently riding a seven-game winning streak!

- If you bet your friend $100 on each and every Oiler game since Dec 31st, 2008 he'd owe you $2000. They are NOT getting better!!

- If you instead bet $100 on the season series for the past 14 seasons, you'd be up $800 with 10 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties. Yes, that's correct. The Oilers have only won the BOA twice in the past 14 years and one was by the slimmest of margins!! (OTL being the difference in 2008).

E=NG!!

Here's the raw data. Props to http://www.hockey-reference.com/ for the data!

And to think, I have only seen the flames win once against the oilers...

I should buy a lottery ticket.

It would be like playing against your little brother in Nintendo as a kid over and over again... He gets the crappy controller and sucks so bad but you still enjoy beating him every time.

It would be like the Globe Trotters vs Generals. More entertainment of one team showcasing talent than competitive sports.

Ever been bored as a kid and messed with a bug that is trying to get somewhere? You keep putting your finger in it's way forcing it to try to get around then when it finally makes some progress you pick it up and put it back where it started from. Then you laugh at the stupid bug. Then you get bored again and let it go.

Playing the oilers every game would ruin hockey.

There would be enough jerseys thrown onto the ice to clothe every child in Africa.

Edit: They wouldn't wear the jerseys anyways.

The funny thing is that because not every game against them was perfect (the first and last for example) the Oiler fans think it's just bad luck/bad goaltending that's the difference.

They've cited Calgary's "great goaltending" all year as the difference.

The real question should be

"What if the Adirondack Flames played the Oilers every game?"
