Shop.Canada.NHL.com: Name and number on jerseys for $0 extra
If anyone wants to get a jersey with a name and number, the NHL's Canadian and American online stores have a promo this weekend where customization does not cost anything extra.
http://shop.canada.nhl.com/home/index.jsp
They don't do the highest quality stitching I've seen (one layer instead of each layer of fabric sewn to the jersey), and the jerseys do take about a month to ship, but it's not a bad deal.

I've got Kiprusoff, Bouwmeester, Tanguay, Iginla... Seems like every time I get a named jersey, that player soon stops playing for Calgary Flames.

Free or not, I'd rather spend the extra $ and get the lettering done properly

I have. I only wear Kipper jersey now, since he's the only player that did not move to another team...

I can already envision a game with a ton of CPers at it with misspelled named jerseys.
I'm looking at a Grainland jersey.

You don't need to spell anything. There's a player name pull-down menu right underneath the customization box. Customization box is for your own name (e.g. Woiciechowski - #96, or Venkatanarasimha - #2 etc.)

This. This is what I'll get on my next jersey regardless of team or sport.

There are also some spectacularly long and funny-sounding Russian last names, but nothing beats Sri Lanka, they are the absolute world champion in last name length.

This should be the thread title. Buyer beware, the NHL.com store customization is the worst. A quick google search will give you a lot of angry customers/reviews. Not what you'd expect from the official NHL store, but here we are...

100% agreed. It's all heat pressed and is very seldom straight or at the appropriate height. Stay far away from these. Wait for the year end sale from the Fan Attic. The retro jerseys were on sale last week and it was basically free lettering when all things were added in. The Flames do a much better job than NHL.com.

fanattic, icejerseys or rivercitysports ftw. nhl.com customization is brutal. I had a Kiprusoff name bar come off doing laundry.
For frewe I'd consider it, but they don't have my size anyway.

Ok, I'm needing a little advice. I've been warned by many people to never use NHL.com to buy things and I have always ordered my jerseys from FanAttic...however, I just won a $75 e-gift card with my Scotiabank debit card to the NHL.com store. None of the other garbage they sell appeals to me so the only thing I'm considering is a women's jersey.
Am I better off to just order the jersey blank? Or do I just risk it and order myself a Monahan jersey since it's no additional cost? Seeing that this jersey is basically costing me nothing, if it's a slight imperfection I'm not going to be upset - but if it's spelled wrong or completely crooked I can't see myself wearing it. It would be nice to have a name on the back seeing that 3 of my 4 jerseys are obsolete already (Lombardi, Baertschi, Cammalleri). Advice?

I'd leave it blank. Heat pressed, faux stitched lettering drives me nuts. Keep the free jersey and get it done up nice later on.
