Default QOTD: Would you bring back Iginla?

If the Flames were to win a cup while Iginla is still around, would you bring him back to the Flames after?

He/she is new so they probably didn't catch on. The QOTD usually comes from Bingo.

Also, no. We are in full rebuild mode, no bringing back Iggy.

In a perfect world, we Ray Bourque him in 2 years before our glorious cup run. Gio passes Lord Stanley to Iggy, and he's the first to hoist the cup, creating so much noise, that the Saddledome receives structural failure, which then forces Ken King to expedite the build of the new arena.

Originally I said no but if we did bring Iginla back when we were contenders and it was obvious he was a role player I would be open to it. I think the team is developing an identity and we know who the leaders are now. Iginla in a few years will definitely be seen as a role player and there will be no obligation to have him be anything more than that. If he could just blend in to the team I'd be open to it. Similar to a Bourque or Andreychuk situation where the team has that added incentive of winning for the respected vet.

I'm a huge Iginla fan. Favourite player of all-time.

But no. We've moved on from Iginla, and frankly it feels awesome.

I like how entitled we sound. Why would he come back? They sold their house, and have pulled out all the roots from this city. I highly doubt he would come back

No. Iggy is too slow for this team. He was to slow for the old team as well.
Sign him to a one day deal when he retires and hang his number from the rafters.

I honestly don't know. Right now no I don't want him on the team but in 2-3 years when this team is transitioning to Monahan, Bennett, and Gaudreau as leaders and Gio still wearing the C. If Iggy is a bottom 6er who hasn't won a cup and Calgary is a contender I could easily get behind him coming back.

Iginla is still my favorite player of all time but the last 3-4 years here the team struggled on the ice and struggled to establish an identity. The past 2 years under Gio they established an identity as the hardest working team in hockey. The efforts are consistent, the years leading up to the rebuild they mailed in several games. Brent Sutter had that 10 minute rant about playing as a team and playing the right way.

Its nothing against Iggy but sometimes teams just need new blood.

If the Flames were legitimate cup contenders in a season or two and Iggy was an available rental at the deadline I would certainly consider bringing him into the organization.

Yes, he can protect Gaudreau and maybe even help him score more, he still can score, and he still be an effect power forward with the Flames. The Flames are currently missing that right wing power forward. Plus Iggy can make pretty nice passes and can win faceoffs. Yeah, I've moved on and fully on board with a full rebuild. But if there's a chance of getting him back without moving very much assets, hell yeah, the Flames should bring him back to win the Cup!

Take a look at Iggy's stat with every team he's played for (except for the Pens since he wasn't there for a full season). He's basically leading the scoring for all of them. As well, he wasn't even supposed to lead the scoring for the Avs since he's pretty much considered: too old, washed up, and too slow. And with all the Avs offensive younger players, who would've thought Iggy would be leading them when they have MacKinnon, Duchene, Landeskog, O'Reilly, Briere, and Hejda? Iggy might even finish the 2014-2015 with another 30+goal season.
