The Avs were already done this year anyway.

2013 is looking like a very good draft already and it is so awesome that at 6 overall 2 years in the Flames arguably have the best player. MacKinnon was a beast last year but Monhan has taken this biggest overall step of that class thus far.

This really sucks for Nathan but I think this puts in the final nail into the Avs' season, since they were already so far behind.

I think in the 2013 draft the top 3 players I would want are MacKinnon, Jones and Monahan.

It's too early to tell but since we have Johnny it's easy to pick those 3 ahead of Drouin and Monahan's overall game and quick progression makes it difficult to not like him over Barkov and Lindholm..

Monahan, Bennett, Brodie, Gaudreau all 24 yrs old and under is incredible.

I love this team moving forward.

I love this team now and moving forward, the guys you listed are in my mind leading this team and creating an identity for the Flames. Sam Bennett will fit in perfectly next season and I believe he will have a huge impact as well.

I love this team and I love that Monahan was still there at #6. I am amazed.

Tough year for the kid. The star of the 2013 draft will hopefully be back 100% by next fall.
