Default City line feeding water to house broke - insurance question

Again the best help on this forum:

I have a house that is tenant occupied and it seems the city line to the house has ruptured hence causing condensation and mold in the house.

I know that fixing the line is my responsibility, but does insurance cover the internal damage???

What can I do with my tenants in this case?

Fixing the city line before your meter is your responsibility? Is that true?

The resulting damage to YOUR property will be covered by your policy, yes. Any damage to your tenants property will not be covered by your policy, they must have their own Tenants Policy.

I got a letter in the mail the other day from a company offering to insure the line between my property line and house.

It looked like a scam though and was not cheap.

No, it's legit. Just a Tremendous waste of money.

A waterline break is a rare event indeed.

Thanks for the reply.

Do I have to have any sort of special thing on my policy to cover this or is it under basic coverage?

Thanks!

Been running full steam trying to fix.

Nope, that's standard stuff. The only real "add on" people should have on their policies is sewer backup. That's not standard and one of the more common claims we get.
