Good catch on how choked Hartley was during the post game press conference.

I don't think it was just the too many men call. The obvious hook on Landeskog on Gaudreau and some pretty liberal chops and hacks by the Avs in the last 5 minutes when the officials put their whistles away.

I thought Brodie struggled tonight as well. First time in a long time for him to have an off night.

No big deal. Still a playoff team.

Just got back from the game with my daughter. Interesting in that the Flames played last night and obviously they were the attacking team again during most of the third period.

The too many men on the ice call was crap, but so was the first goal on Ramo...that in the end was the game.

I really despise Landeskog, he's actually a very chippy and dirty player, went after Brodie, Monahan, and Johnny just to name a few.

On a personal note, my 5 year old daughter received 3 pucks tonight during warmups. One official Calgary Flames game puck from the equipment manager, one practice puck straight off the ice from Lance Bouma, and right at the end of warmups another one from Hiller. She got high fives from most players , some extended ones almost handshakes. Johnny missed her hand because of his height.

Met a lot of rabid Calgary fans there tonight and some gracious Colorado fans as well.

Really excellent effort in the third considering the Flames played last night and traveled and the Avs were sitting here waiting.

As much as I don't like Varlomov, he was the difference in the third period.

Met some Johnny fans from when he played in Dubuque Iowa and they were representing wearing their city's jerseys. I've got pictures... They are quite unique.

Pretty similar to a lot of non traditional hockey markets in the States. There was a trivia question asked during the second intermission regarding the Colorado Flames and most of the folks in attendance were shocked that it was an actual hockey team in Denver.

There is a smaller core group of long time fanatics that follow the Avalanche win or lose, however if you look up their attendance records post 2005 and the salary cap you might be surprised to see that they have been in the bottom 3 and spent a lot of time in the bottom 10 league wide.

Last night you could have gone to the box office right before the game and purchased seats together. The Avalanche advertise an ongoing ticket package for 4 seats, 4 drinks, and 4 pizzas for $99 to $119 depending on the actual seat location.

Even though they didn't announce a sellout last night, between Spring Break starting for most schools in the state and the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day, the game was really well attended. There might have been less than 200 unsold seats or no shows.

Part of the loyal core also is pretty into the University of Denver Pioneers as well. They have been a very successful NCAA Division 1 team and sent a lot of notable players to the NHL.

One more note from last night, we met a family with close ties this year to Jarome. The dad coaches Iggy's son on a local team and the dad is originally from Calgary. His wife and son were super nice and talkative. She spotted me and my daughter pre game and my Giordano jersey and asked me if I was from Calgary. During our chat she told me that Jarome is very nice, quiet, and reserved at his son's games and other team activities. She said that Kara's parents are really nice, friendly, down to earth, and just a pleasure to have around to visit with.

Brodie had a bad night. Wideman was great. Not at all mentioned in the Game takes even though he played 1/2 of the game.

The conditioning of Mohanhan/Gaudreau and Hudler is off the charts.

Playing at altitude in back to back games with travel they played almost all of the last 5 minutes totally dominating.

Flames are reverting to a smaller team getting outhit 27-18.
