Default gtalk going down
So, it looks like the application for gtalk is going to be going down as of Feb 16th. You can still use it, but it has to be within the chrome browser.

Some major issues with that. We should discuss alternatives and find a solution before it shuts down. We could still use it if everyone uses chrome (which I imagine some don't. There is also company restrictions to which browsers you can use, etc.)

Thoughts?

Hangouts uses the same Gtalk contact list IIRC.

I dislike hangouts though

Hangouts suck and I personally dislike gtalk as well. I wish there was a better option for chat.

Never been a fan of gTalk, Skype is a pretty good chat program.

Skype is horrible...hate that program and refuse to have it on my machine. Use Zoom for any video related chats.
Does anyone know about any of these?

never heard of those, but Trillian sounds interesting:

I despise Kik and WhatsApp, haha.

No real reason, just that I don't want to stretch my IM usage over multiple platforms (above what I use now)

Maybe trillian is the way to go

I use an App called Kakao Talk in Korea that is pretty good for phone apps and it seems to have PC/Mac compatibility as well.
Anyone else here use Kakao? It works pretty well as far as Im concerned.
