Patrick Kane has surgery. 12 week recovery time UPD: practicing with the team

			update:
Chicago Blackhawks @NHLBlackhawks
Patrick Kane undergoes successful surgery, full recovery anticipated in approx. 12 weeks.

Chris Kuc @ChrisKuc
Another source said #Blackhawks' Patrick Kane will be sidelined more than six weeks and possibly up to 10-plus weeks.

Chris Kuc @ChrisKuc
Hearing it is a broken collarbone for #Blackhawks' Patrick Kane but that is NOT confirmed.

Blackhawks could use the LTIR to get some pieces at the deadline.

Not much of a hit, but, in a bad area, and with a disastrous result...
The 'Hawks have some depth at forward, though, not quite at Kane's offensive level...I would expect Sharp to move to #2 LW with Richards at C and Versteeg moving to RW...

Wasn't it Petrovic that took out Seguin as well?

This does become a huge game changer for the Hawks now in terms of the trade deadline.
They can now acquire an additional $6.5 million in cap hit at the trade deadline (assuming Kane goes to LTIR) without shipping out salary.

Wasn't much of a cross-check, looked like Kane caught a bit of an edge as well.
Just a real unlucky result for him and Hawks fans.

I a weird way I guess it's better he was injured before the deadline than after it had passed. Now the Hawks can add big game changers *cough*cough* Curtis Glencross

I think they have a young guy in the minors that can help a bit in Mark McNeill...and add at the deadline.

If the 'Hawks do ANYTHING splashy, it will be a 2nd Pair D-Man.

Even with the added cap space there isn't really much available. I suppose they could land someone who has term left but then they likely are parting with more valuable assets and mess up their cap situation even worse come summer. Not sure how beneficial the cap space is for them at this point.

Friedman is speculating he could be gone much longer that its a potential shoulder issue on top of the collarbone.

ROR'd be a good fit for them especially if they're serious about shipping out Sharp in the summer. Not sure Colorado would be keen on moving him within the division though.

I wonder if they would be able to retain some of his current contract, because Toew's and Kane's raises + ROR's 6m contract will be hard to keep together. Not only that, but you have RFA Saad, Sharp and Bickell still on the team too with big contracts.

Flames are 9 pts back of Chicago for the final wild card spot with just over 20 games to go.
Kane is involved (pts) on 64 of Chicago's 180 goals.

Mason Raymond would be a better fit as a Kane replacement....
