If the Oilers dont claim him then Bettman should be allowed to repeatedly kick MacTavish in the nuts with a comedically oversized boot.

Vasilevski has been outstanding for them while he was up, he looks ready for the backup job. I think this is the end for Nabokov in the NHL.

I hate the Oilers as much as the next guy, but them claiming him would be, well....be no good.
On second thought, claim him Oilers. Claim him.

How so? I see Nabokov as superior to Fasth or Sievens.

@reporterchris: With #TBLightning recalling Andre Vasilevskiy, Evgeni Nabokov will be sent to @TheAHL if he clears waivers. Feeling is he may not report.

Exactly. He'd fit perfectly on the Oilers. They should give him a Khabibulin-esque contract. They love their below-average Russians.

I don't. Nabokov has not been very good and I still think that Scrivens and Fasth are better than their numbers. It's their defensive play that sucks and the goaltenders are scapegoats that could very well be good somewhere else. See Dubnyk, Devan.

I hope he gets picked up by the Oilers and then still chooses to not report. E = ng

With Dubnyk starting to adequately carry the load in Minny, do they still put in a claim on Nabokov? With the struggles they have had in-between the pipes you think they might want to at least go with some risky kind of insurance.

I think the Flames should pick him up because the Flames should pick up every player that goes on waivers. Pick him up.....waivers = flames pick him up.

I think if they do that they risk shaking Dubnyk's confidence. I think they ride it out with Dubnyk and look to the offseason.

I know your obsessed with the Oilers but Nabokov is not the goalie he once was. This is far from a must have pick up even for them.

This unfortunately underscores the current goalie market, especially if he is not claimed. We might just keep Ramo for the rest of the season and lose him as a UFA.

I love how Nabokov's best ever playoffs came the year the flames beat them in the WCF and Kipprusoff got a chance to humiliate them for staying with Nabokov over Kipper.

A bit revisionist there. They picked Toskala to back up Nabokov instead of Kipper. Kipper was #3 on the depth chart in SJ when he was dealt. Knit picking on my part a bit but the rest is right, Kipper showed up Nabby in that series.

He's almost 40 years old and has horrible stats on the best team in the Eastern Conference.
There's no way he gets claimed.
