Default Jan 30 Practice - No Glencross. Flames unlikely to make any lineup changes vs Oilers

Glencross is missing. He suffered a setback during Wednesday's practice.

No sign of #Flames LW Curtis Glencross (lower body) today at practice. Had slight setback Wednesday after stepping on stick in practice.
Looks like no line up changes

#Flames lines and pairings the same as they've been the last two games today. Baertschi, Wolf, Wotherspoon skating as extras.

I hope Wolf and Baertschi are somehow worked into the lines today. Not enough creativity in our top 6 right now. Take Bollig and either Jones or Byron out.

I'd rather they sit Bollig and Raymond.

Team can't survive running only Money, Gaud and Hud. They just key on them, daring the rest of the lines to score...

Raymond has been improving in my opinion, Bolig does what he does which is to play the tough guy role without being a liability and Byron while not scoring has been great defensively.

With that said, I still want to see Baertschi and Wolf worked in somehow. If I had to chose I'd take Bolig and Byron out of the lineup, put Bouma on one of the bottom two lines, and put Baertschi + Wolf in.

As for Wotherspoon, just replace him with Engelland. Another option, which hasn't been discussed much is to sit Russell. In my opinion, he has been struggling for a while now.

Really hope we see Wolf draw in for Bollig and Baertschi in for Raymond tomorrow.

Especially after Wolf's comments during the training camp:
“If we play one day, it’s going to be — of course — no friends,” said Wolf. “Especially against Edmonton. I’m trying to play for the Flames right now. If I’m going to play one day against Edmonton, it’s not going to be friendly.”

God I would pay good money to see Wolf take runs at Hall, Nuge and Eberle.

Agree with those who say Raymond is improving. Given his contract, you have to let him build his confidence back. If you sit him again while he's progressing, he may never recover. It's not that I like him, but even if you want to trade him, you still need to build his value up, and right now, I don't think there's a market at all for him.

I'd replace Wolf with Bollig for the Edmonton game and maybe put Sven in place of Jones. Jones needs to sit every once in a while to light a fire. I find he sits, plays well for a few games and then reverts back to not doing much.

I'd love to see Wolf draw in but it sounds like the lines probably won't change barring injury or a last minute decision. Normally I would be advocating for Raymond to sit. His act of driving wide down the boards and taking a bad angle shot or making a low percentage pass into the slot is getting tough to watch. However, he did have his best of the game the season against the Oilers at the beginning of the season, so maybe this is what he needs to get his game back.

Maybe it's just me, but I think this is the right time to play Ramo. Then again, Hiller had a great game last night. With his inconsistencies, we are seeing the good side of him and need to roll with that. I just don't want Ramo to get any rustier than what he already is.

Raymond is getting frustrating to watch, Hartley not pulling him out of the line-up is almost more frustrating.

That was Raymond a month ago. Now he is cycling more, passing to the point and going to the front of the net more.

IMO Hartley has handled the lineup well this year, and generally pushed the right buttons. So I trust him on this.

Tomorrow is the kind of game you have to get either Wolf, Baertchi.. Hell even Wotherspoon into the line-up. Smashing the Oilers is always great for confidence, whether it's your first NHL game or you're a confidence driven player like Baertchi.

If both Wolf and Baertchi are scratched and not sent down tomorrow I'll be convinced a trade is in the works. Or maybe they are giving Raymond a last chance before being waived?

Hall and Nikitin are missing from the Oilers practice. Making tomorrows game that much easier.
