Let's talk about: David Jones
Seen by many as completely expendable in the offseason, he's quietly brought a solid, reliable game this year and a consistent physical presence the undersized Flames badly need.
In short, I'm surprised by his contribution this year, and think he's an unlikely important piece. Thoughts?

Love his play lately, and all year for that matter.

Keep him around until UFA unless you get a decent offer on him since we need right hand shots, size and physicality.

don't know that hes "Important" per se, but I've been happy with his game. Good physical presence and lots of energy. Hasn't been finding the net as much as he probably could, but hes in the mix just about every night. Thought he deserved a goal against buffalo for sure.

Reminds me of David moss but with an edge. Knock on wood he's gotta stay healthy. Too many gaps on rw

Important is probably a bit much but he's become a great utility player and has a role on a small team. Rubber hits the road soon though - if we're not in the playoff picture at the deadline, do you try to move him for 3rd rounder?

Seems like the majority of the time he is injured or recovering from an injury. When fully healthy he seems decent though.

As long as he is healthy and playing a tough game he is a valuable asset.
I don't think he is used to or enjoys the physical element of the game but has embraced the fact that he plays best when getting into that mode.
Best of all, I feel he has improved week over week for most of the season.

He is still overpaid for what he brings. It's definitely a roster position that we need to find a way to improve on.

If i could find a word to describe Jones in my opinion it would be "meh". Sometimes he plays with intensity and physicality. Other times it seems as he floats.
He is a $4.0 million cap hit per year . Equal to Hudler. I need to see him consistently being physical and be a presence in front of the net, He has upped his game lately however I need to more of this until I am sold.
He's okay but not in our future in 2 years.

He is better this season, but not nearly worth his contract. Could care less if he was traded at any point from now till his contract expires. He is not an important piece going forward.

Injured too often, makes too much money. Won't be sad when he's gone.

His salary isn't an issue, since his term expires at just the right time. He's a solid player and one of the older guys on roster. He's a vet who's been around since the Joe Sakic era in Colorado so I'm sure he can offer some wisdom even if he's probably not part of the core leadership group. I wouldn't put it past him to string together another 20 goal season one of these years, he's shown the hands for it.

I think we still got the shorter end of the stick in that deal.

Big strong fast guy with a good attitude and no finishing skill. Flames always have one of these guys it seems (Donovan, Comeau, etc.).
He has no trade value. We are weak on RW. So these isn't much to say, keep him until a kid steals his roster spot (Emile, I am looking at you).
I strongly disagree that he is core or a big contributor. If a player with poor stats like he has is core, it likely means your team sucks.

I find him invisible. I only remember he's on our team when he scores or takes a penalty.
Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

I'd say being blind is probably a bad thing.

Like his game a lot. He seems to be making power moves toward the net more. Possibly as a consequence of feeling a little more confident in his body.
We're a much better team when he's playing well. I think the Glencross - Monahan - Jones line this year was really good when they were clicking.
He's only marginally overpaid in today's NHL. For whomever compared him to Hudler ... Hudler is an absolute steal. Not exactly fair.

Decent addition for 60 ish games a season. He leaves a hole when he's not in the lineup. A bird in hand is worth 2 in Adirondack.
