QOTD: Who will lead the Flames in scoring by the end of the season?
Gaudreau with two goals last night gives him 37 points on the season, just 4 back of Hudler who has moved into a tie with Giordano.
Giordano 41
Hudler 41
Gaudreau 37
Monahan 31
Brodie 30
QOTD: Who leads the Flames in scoring at the end of the season (I'm really glad I'm record at work predicting Gaudreau after the World Championships this season)?
Bonus question: What do all of these players have in common?
wait for it ...
wait
no it's not "people who have never been in my kitchen" Cliff Claven Cheers Jeopardy episode
They'd all be leading the Oilers in scoring this year. (Denis Wideman would be a point back, Glencross 2)

Hudler.
The Oilers must be looking at our season and our team and it must add to their misery. Awesome.

I took the easy answer and went with Hudler. Even if Gaudreau heats up, Hudler will be in on a lot of his goals/assists as well.

I think Gaudreau is eventually going to surpass Hudler.

I think Hudler will hold off Gaudreau and Giordano, but just slightly.
Next year Gaudreau will be #1, and probably many years to follow.

GOAT!

How crazy would it be if Gaudreau finishes the year leading the team in points?
And by crazy, I mean super-hella-awesome.

I went with Hudler. That being said if Gaudreau is the team leader at the end of the year you might as well start engraving his name on the Calder.

I went with Gaudreau. I think Hudler misses a few games along the way and Gaudreau sneaks by him.
I noticed that last night: TJ Brodie would be leading the Oilers in points. Two 4th rounders and a non-drafted player, all would be leading the Oilers in points.

The NHL media world is firmly in Ekblad camp at this point. Gaudreau will have to start producing at a higher rate than he currently is. Higher than Forsberg, obviously, but I'm thinking over PPG because most of these writers already have Ekblad's name penciled in.

Gotta go with Hudler - he lead the team last year in points and just seems to be consistantly hitting the scoresheet night to night. Johnny seems to be a bit more streaky, which is why I think Hudler comes out on top.

was wondering on the way to the game if Gaudreau soaking up all stars would add to his game ... for one night it did. He looked really sharp last night, confident with the puck, finding open players. Dangerous
Very good sign.
[Was Buffalo though]

Yeah, I think we'll have to look past these last 2 January games before we can make an assessment on the ASG making an impact on Johnny. Guarantee it did, he looked very confident with the puck last night.

Would love to see Gaudreau go on some sort of monster scoring tear from now until the end of the season to take the team scoring lead and overtake Forsberg. Will it happen? It doesn't matter, we know what we got and as long as he is a key player for the team I don't care if other players on other teams score more and get more awards... just as long as he always outscores Nugent-EberHall.

Oops, I voted for Monahan because I thought you meant goal scoring. For points I would have selected Giordano.

Gaudreau 23
Hudler 19
Giordano 16
Wideman 15
Jooris 15

Hudler is my vote, he has a hand in most of Johnny's points. Also Hartley at times will play him on more than 1 line.
Hudler Gio and Johnny will be only 2-5 points off of one another.
Sure hope Hudler keeps up the nice dishes to Johnny he needs to pot 5 or more goals than Forsburg to win the Calder.
Backlund added to that line is going to be such a bonus for Hudler and Johnny.

I do like that Monahan has a better ppg average than MacKinnon so far this year. Monahan gets more ice-time on average, but also plays more on the PK than MacKinnon.
