another one ... not as blatant as others, but still. Really like the public shaming that has been going on this season.

New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck has been fined $2,000 as supplementary discipline under NHL Rule 64 (Diving/Embellishment), the National Hockey League announced today.
Clutterbuck was issued a Warning following an incident flagged by NHL Hockey Operations during NHL Game No. 397 against the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 6. His second Citation, which triggered the $2,000 fine, was issued for an incident during NHL Game No. 676 against the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 19. Flyers forward Jakub Voracek received a minor penalty for hooking on the play, at 19:04 of the second period. The Islanders scored on the ensuing power play.

I DON'T like this and I don't like the precedent it sets.
Clutterbuck being fined for that is a crock of ****, he didn't fall, he didn't jump, he just recoiled his arm, slightly.
The NHL is attacking the wrong problem. They're treating the symptom rather than the root cause.
Guys are embellishing and diving because refs aren't calling hooks and slashes. After the 05 lockout they had to regularly be reminded to reinforce the rules to prevent obstruction. If they don't, it creeps back into the game.

Fits perfectly with "embellishment". The fine means he was given a warning for another incident, I believe, so I think the public shaming is warranted.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

So it's only embellishment if they fall to the ice? The fact is he lost the puck himself and then threw his arm up like he was hooked to draw a penalty that didn't really happen. That crap we need out of the game.

I love these fines but that one was kind of lame. If that had been a Canuck (real embellisher) he would have fell backwards and held his hand over his mouth.

I dunno... I think you have your cause and effect backwards. I think players dive more now because it is easier to get those cheap hooking and slashing calls.
