Default Jan 16 Practice - Raymond & Smid to draw back in? Ortio starts tomorrow

Looks like Granlund injured himself in the morning skate yesterday. This would be the first time Jooris skated with the main group since being put on IR last Thursday. Glencross nowhere to be seen.

#Flames C Markus Granlund is wearing a blue non contact jersey along with C Josh Jooris. No LW Curtis Glencross.

Sportak thinks Raymond draws back in

No sign of Curtis Glencross at #Flames practice in SJ. Based on sweaters, looks like Raymond draws back in. Granlund and Jooris odd colours

All 3 goalies were on the ice

I think sitting out Mason Raymond two games in a row might help him think that he needs to start producing or else, he'll be the healthy scratch for a long time. I really think he will draw in for Glencross who were injured against Arizona. Keep Jooris on the sideline until he is a 100% healthy.

So what do the lines look like? Does Raymond finally get 2nd line minutes by default?

Good chance for Raymond. Hope he takes advantage of it.

I'd guess Bouma or Colborne replace Glencross on Monahan's line. Raymond comes in on the third or fourth line.

For Raymond's sake, I hope he pulls a Jones.

I agree. Jones has been a feel-good story for me. Guy has been able to contribute without being a liability. It's very appreciated.

Like those lines. Maybe Raymond playing with two bigger guys won't be such a physical liability either.

That's what I've said to those who want to trade him without thinking of the consequences.

I don't care if Mason Raymond is goal-less for the rest of the season. Just go out there, finish checks, make quick and smart decisions with the puck, and skate hard without the puck. The rest will come naturally. He's a guy who's been to the SCF before, he knows what it takes to win. He needs to do it. No more face-palm no-look passes to the neutral zone and charmin-soft play on the boards.

Well, the merit of the 'earned not given" system is that Bouma is rewarded for his recent good play by getting promoted. However, I personally don't think this is a good idea. Doing well against Arizona doesn't mean you move someone up to play a much tougher team in a much bigger game.

Move Colborne up to Monahan's line and keep Bouma lower down the order. I know why Colborne is where he is(average level of play recently, supposed chemistry with Shore), but moving him up the order makes more sense at the moment.

Also not sure why Smid is back on the 3rd pairing. Did Diaz have a bad game last night as I missed it?

The best Raymond's played all year was on Colbornes line. This thing with Shore and Colborne could be a good spark for Ramyond. Or at least I am hopefull!

Good for Bouma getting some top line, he deserves it after that showing in Arizona.

Excited to see Gaudreau-Backlund-Hudler playing together from the start of the game.

With Glencross down, would have really liked to see Wolf or Ferland called up for that physical aspect, but I guess we still don't know how long Curtis may be out for.

Lance Bouma has strung together a number of good games in a row now - guess that's why he's moved up.

Mason Raymond finish checks?

He has been credited with two, yes that is correct, two body checks in 22 games with the Flames.

Yeah, if someone is waiting for Raymond to finish checks, it's going to be a long wait.

Exactly.

If he gets even one hit tomorrow night, it would increase his production by 50%. That's how you get out of the doghouse!
