Would rather see this. I understand that Hartley is trying to get other guys going, but it seems to be drying up for Hudler and Gaudreau since being separated. I'd rather he keep them together and play with the other combinations.

Raymond scratched is fine by me, but I would be fine wither him or Bollig in the lineup. Byron is close to being a healthy scratch too, but he does just enough to be a useful player most nights.

Smid back in…hope he has his head in the game this time. He's a much better defenseman than he's shown this year. Engelland struggles at times, but overall he's been improving throughout the year. Diaz is the most inconsistent for me, but when he's on he's a very solid 3rd pairing guy.

I wonder how long we see Granlund up and Shore down? I want them to make sure the timing is right, but having just 1 extra forward isn't going to last much longer. I wonder if they're debating bringing Baertschi back up and that's holding up the Shore promotion.

Boy, Raymond certainly appears to have found his way into Hartley's doghouse. His season started with so much promise.

IMO I think they would rather have Shore learn the system in Adirondack, then when they think he is comfortable with it they will call him up.

They need to be real sure about Shore before the call up though... once he is here, he is here for good or they will likely lose him to waivers (the whole reason he was traded in the first place). I could see it happening relatively soon, but I could also see him spend a few weeks in the A too to learn the system the Flames play and make damn sure that we have a real good feel for the player before we bring him up.

Agreed on Byron - he was a demon at the start of the year but really seems to just "be there" now. He needs to show something or he could be on the outside looking in.

Also agree on the bottom pair D. All have looked good at times, all have looked like warm poo on occasion. Be nice if a couple of them could become consistently good.

Is it true that after the trading deadline, there will be no more waivers? Meaning players don't need to clear waivers to be called up or sent down?

yeah given his waiver status its in the team's best interest to leave Shore down there for a week weeks and add their own take on him (Huska's).

Add in Arnold's injury and they may not be able to bring him up.

waivers still exist. However a player claimed off waivers after the deadline is not eligible for playoffs.

Also after the trade deadline the roster limit of 23 is removed so there is usually no need to send players down except for cap reasons

All for Shore staying down until at least the All-Star break. Calgary only plays four times until then. Mind you, Adirondack only plays three times in the same period.

I still don't understand why Byron hasn't been a healthy scratch yet. I would personally rather see Raymond over Byron right now.

True.

I think he comes up at or around the deadline. Since once he's up he has to stay up they'll want to be really sure about him and if/when they're sure about him they'll want him to play meaningful (top 9) minutes so they'll probably move a body first.

Why? Raymond hardly even touches the puck, and when he does have it, its like a hot potatoe on his stick.

This is something I really don't get at all. He comes back from a significant injury and is essentially given no opportunity to produce or play in the top 6. The guy isn't going to get comfortable out there again unless he's playing regularly.

This would be fine but when you consider the fact that guys like Jones and Byron are pretty much left to play night in and night out while doing nothing it really makes you wonder.

If Raymond were playing with Monahan and Glencross, would that stop him from making that stupid bank pass off the boards to nobody three times a game?

Raymond was given prime PP minutes, and everytime he was out there he would just assist the opposition in killing the PP - he was awful, and frankly he hasn't done much at even strength either.

He's had chances, he's just been bad.

I'm excited to see what Shore brings but I'm also concerned that his waiver status gives him an unfair advantage over other prospects. Once he's up he pretty much has to stay up. If rather see him stay in the AHL and prove himself alongside other prospects before getting the call. Otherwise he's a parachute prospect

I guess the flip side could be that the waiver status works against him and he stays down longer than normal

The Gaudreau Backlund Jones line was pretty dominant against Vancouver, excited to see it again.
