A Look At Whats Happening With Some Former Flames
I decided to take a look at what some of our former players have been doing this year:
I was more than a little surprised to see Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay are 1-2 in points for the Colorado Avalanche. Looking closer, I was also surprised to see Tanguay fourth in total PK ice time killing penalties for the Avs.
Iginla: 42 GP, 12 G, 15 A, 27 Pts, -2.
Iginla traded for Kenneth Agostino, Benjamin Hanowski and the 28th overall pick in 2013 (Morgan Klimchuk)
Tanguay: 40 GP, 12 G, 15 A, 27 Pts, +5.
Tanguay traded to Colorado with Cory Sarich for David Jones and Shane O'Brien.
-The frustrating duo of Jay Bouwmeester and Chris Butler now live in St. Louis.
-Bouwmeesters ironman streak came to an end this season due to injury. His stats have been underwhelming at best.
Bouwmeester 2014: GP 34, 2 G, 4 A, 6 Pts, +4.
Bouwmeester traded for Mark Cundari, Reto Berra and the 22nd overall pick in 2013 (Emile Poirier)
-Butler started in the AHL and played well warrenting a call up. He has played 20 games since being recalled on Nov. 23rd. I see Butlers last game vs. Carolina (Jan. 10) he had 14 shifts and was a -4. The Butler we know and don't love.
Butler: 2014(NHL) 20 GP, 2 G, 2 A, 4 Pts, +1.
2014(AHL) 14 GP, 1 G, 8 A, 9 Pts, +5.
Butler signed a one year two-way contract as a UFA with St. Louis.
-Mike Cammalleri signed with the NJ Devils after deciding not to take the offer the Flames had tabled.
Cammalleri 2014: 32 GP, 13 G, 5 A, 18 Pts, -1.
Cammalleri signed a 5 year deal as a UFA with NJ.
-TJ Galiardi was not re-signed by the Flames and took his talents to Winnipeg. The Jets put him on waivers after 24 games.
Galiardi 2014: 24 GP, 1 G, 0 A, 1 Pt, -5
Galiardi signed a 1 year deal with Winnipeg.
-Tim Jackman was traded to Anaheim in 2013. He played 26 games to close out the season and had 3 goals and 4 points.
Jackman 2014: 36 GP, 3 G, 2 A, 5 Pts, -2
Jackman was traded to The Ducks for a 6th rounder. Flames used the 175th overall pick in the 2014 draft to draft Adam Ollas Mattsson.
-Lee Stempniak was traded to Pittsburgh at the deadline last year. He played 21 games for them, putting up 4 goals and 11 pts. In the playoffs he added 2 goals and 3 points in 13 games. He then signed a one year deal with the Rangers this year as a UFA.
Stempniak 2014: 33 GP, 6 G, 8 A, 14 Pts, +9
Lee was traded to Pittsburgh for a 3rd round pick which was flipped by the Flames to Chicago for Brandon Bollig. The Blackhawks used the 83rd overall pick in 2014 to pick Matheson Iacopelli.
-Reto Berra was traded to Colorado at the deadline last year. In the 2 games he played for the Avs last year, he posted a .781 save% and a 5.83 GAA. This year has also not gone well for he and the Avs. Jan 10th he was sent down to the AHL.
Berra 2014: 10 GP, 2 W, 2 L, 1 OT, .882 Save%, 3.57 GAA.
Berra signed a 3 year extension with the Avalanche, traded for the 54th overall pick in 2014 (Hunter Smith)

wow, I am not sad about any of those trades. Looking at those numbers, it was the right thing to do.
The best trade was definitely Berra for that 2nd. Man has he been terrible for the Avs. I think the only issue I had with any of those was losing Cammy for nothing but I think getting more of the old boys out of the dressing room is a good thing and has lead the way for new leaders to emerge.
thanks for posting!

I would say dumping the highly overrated Bouwmeester and that salary and getting a 1st back was beautiful.

I don't miss Cammy at all and much prefer Gaudreau. (I was also quite a Cammy fan, especially after the Bourque trade)

Is Iggy playing with Tangs in Colorado these days? Good for them. I thought both would be washed out this season and Iginla had his usual slow start.

Only disappointing ones were Tanguay and Bouwmeester. Still though, future is brighter without them here.

Iggy and Tangs always had great chemistry. Unlike everyone else, I really liked Tanguay when he was here. I remember how stoked I was to hear we traded for him. I was like 16 and bartending my dads 40th bday and I remember wanting to talk about the trade with everyone and not a single one of my dads friends gave any ####s.
Still glad with all of those trades. Tanguay needed to move on.

It is pretty staggering how Galiardi only has 1 goal & point so far in 24 games given he's averaging about 10:50 of ice time per game.
I get that he's no good but that is pretty sad.

It's no surprise to me that Galiardi sucks.

The only trade I would take back is the Tanguay trade.
The Iginla trade return was not great either, but our hands were tied on that one.
I would probably have rather rolled the dice with a 3rd rounder than trade for Bollig, but not a big deal either.

So bad that when he was waived in November, he cleared and not even the AHL club wanted him!!

I kind of liked Bouwmeester but I am very happy with that trade. Poirier looks to be a really good pick.
