Default Economical Options for Watching Flames Games on TV?

I'm getting tired of paying a high monthy cable bill when all I really watch are the Flames games. Does anyone have any suggestions for less expensive alternatives? I still want to watch on my big screen in HD (not so interested in streaming on a laptop).

I'm not sure streaming is even a good option if this is important to you.

Is there actually a good quality stream to be found out there? I think for all the money you save, you end up with difficulty find the game, crappy quality, crappy sound, lag.

Cable is still the best way to watch the games. Get basic cable with a sports package and cancel it in the offseason. Maybe make up for the cost by going to a couple less games per season or something?

I just don't see any viable options out there that will result in a quality experience.

A better option would be to stand outside a bar and peek in the window.

NHL Gamecenter Live. It's $130 for the rest of the season. Streams over the internet legally and is in HD. There are also apps for PS, Xbox, Apple TV.

Can you watch Flames games on NHL Gamecenter Live... if you are within the local broadcast region?

Yup. Nothing is blacked out in Alberta.

Gamecenter will have the playoffs as well. You can also choose between the home and visitor broadcast which is neat.

Isn't web based streaming a better quality than cable? I find my Bell Satellite almost unwatchable compared to Netflix on my Smart TV.

if you find a good stream for your laptop you can buy an HDMI or VGA cable to connect to your tv for cheap.

I like monoprice.com because you can get longer cables. The shorter cables cost about $2 and shipping is $7 iirc. Sometimes you can find a cable at winners for not that much. I can't think of the name of the cheap cable store in Calgary but there is one if you prefer buying things in person.

I was about to complain about futureshop but they have a 6ft hdmi for $7 on their website.
