He is just talking in general at the moment about the 1st half of the season. No real details just yet.

He didn't expect JG to produce the way he has and he thinks there are other young guys ready to play at the NHL level.

I will speculate that maybe there are too many bodies right now to have them all play at the NHL level.

Goal to finish in the top 8 and make the playoffs. Games now are high pressure and a lot is at stake, thinks this is a great learning environment for our players because the games matter right now. We aren't out so everyone is playing for something.

2nd half will be very exciting.

sounds like our AHL team is one of the youngest in the AHL, which speaks a lot for their progress. Sven/Poirier are playing well. Extended time in the AHL is good.

Mentioned that Austin Carroll is developing really well and is a big strong RW. Top 10 in WHL scoring. Thought about turning him pro last year but thought it was good for him to play a bigger role offensively and as a leader at the junior level.

Hunter Smith is also developing nicely.

He's mentioned Sven a couple times.. he seems to be rather high on him.

Likes Gillies' and Carroll's development for prospects outside of the pro ranks

Jankowski taking great strides in the physical development.

Still lots of room for growth, needed growth.

Gauging Trelivings comments on Jankowski, sounds like they want him in College for his full term. They'll re-visit Jankowski's situation at the end of the year.

Bennett is ahead of schedule and is skating. They just want him to heal. Non-contact skating until the end of Jan, will start contact skating in Feb. Could be ready in the middle of Feb for game play.

Will make a decision for what is the best for the Flames and for Sam. They don't know yet.

Where Bennett plays is up in the air as far as this season. Haven't made a decision yet. Hasn't been a focus, only focus is getting him 100%

Now on to Backlund.

Is impressed with how he came back. Great addition to the team since he came back and thinks the schedule is good for him coming back with these long breaks.

Shore's waiver status is a concern. Treliving feels like its a given if he's put on waivers he'll be lost. Will play into the decision as to when they call him up.

Deadline talk now. They have a plan now, question is can they execute it. Have had talks for weeks. Foundations for trades at the deadline are generally set the year before (off-season).

Tough decision with McGrattan but not playing for an extented time and players from the farm playing ahead of him signaled that something needed to be done to get him playing.

Made him available to get that process going but is glad he is still apart of the organization and will be able to play on the farm..

That's all she wrote.

I for one am curious what their plan is heading into deadline month.
The direction they choose to take is going to be very interesting.

Well he said there was A, B, C plans so I guess it all depends on where they sit.. I think there are some players you move no matter what plan you are executing due contract status or organizational fit due to upcoming youth etc..
