That reward is likely to be a lot of time on the bench. I wonder if the Flames consider throwing him right into it against Florida or Vancouver. Otherwise, if the thought really is that Ramo dodged major injury, Ortio may not even play.

I could see him start one of the Florida/Vancouer back to back games, especially since they have to travel to Vancouver.

If not, he still will get a nice pay bump at least.

Yea, Ortio has definitely improved his numbers since October. His current GAA and SV% aren't a good reflection on his play because of how poor the October ones were:

October: 3-3-1 with a 4.16 GAA and .879 SV%
November: 6-1-0 with a 2.22 GAA and .924 SV% and 1 SO
December: 7-3-0 with a 1.70 GAA, .940 SV% and 2 SO
January: 1-1-0 with a 2.02 GAA and .925 SV% (keep in mind, this is a MUCH smaller sample size, he's only played twice)

Ortio's first 10 games of the season:
4.12 GAA, .881 SV% and 0 SO

Ortio's last 17 games:

this could be a blessing in disguise for the Flames. If Ramo misses some time, this gives the Flames a chance to see if Ortio is ready (or almost ready) for the big show ... in which case they could decide to trade one of the current goalies at some point (I'd prefer to keep Ramo and trade Hiller, to be honest).
