Hey Pylon,
I didn't realize you were in the RV industry. I would be happy to get a family pass from you for the upcoming show. We are looking to get a small trailer this year. I'll send you my address for mailing as I don't know when we will be heading out to CrossIron in the immediate future.

Yup.
I am the Finance Manager now at Race Track RV. They just expanded and went from a little hidden lot in Airdrie, to an 8 acre lot in Balzac right on the QE2. They needed a full time finance guy to handle the extra volume.
I just needed a new challenge, less stress, and this industry is awesome if you like to take off for a couple months in the winter. So here I am.
Anyway, as per usual, I am not here to be a company shill or fanboy. But that being said if anyone ever has a question, shoot me a PM, and I can get you an answer, even if you are buying elsewhere. The guys that run this place have been around the RV business forever, and are a wealth of knowledge.
And just like when I was at VW, I can set anyone up with a CP deal for anything you need. Anyone who dealt with me in the past, knows how low pressure, and transparent I make the whole transaction.

Congrats Pylon,
I look forward to picking your brain and spending some money as I'm always looking for new toys for the trailer

Unfortunately no. I think the whole point of them is to spread out the traffic a bit more. Apparantly the Saturday and Sunday is a complete gong show down there.

Welcome to the neighborhood Pylon! For the next RV I will definitely keep them in mind as I have been less than impressed with a certain RV stores service very close by.

Can we get a 2015 RV / Motorhome predictions thread?
Dollar way down (most product is brought in from the states and the exchange rate will have a lot to do with pricing), income likely to go down with the drop in oil prices, gas prices down - makes for cheaper "trailering", what are your predictions?

Just kidding. Congrats on the new job. We have a friend that works that show, so we get free passes every year. I like going on the Thursday evening. It's not quite so insane.

Good to know. We go to the car show annually and always go on either the first or second night because it is a lot easier than Friday or Saturday night. Flames are playing at the Dome on that Thursday night though so parking will suck for the RV show.

Congratulations on the new gig.
Some unsolicited business advice: Can you tell your boss to start supplying RVs for people who aren't stuck in a time warp?
My dad has been looking to blow some money on an RV for a few years now, and every time we go to the RV show to see if they have something remotely modern, it feels like we entered a time machine back to 1980s Edmonton. Crappy ornamental oak, linoleum floors, grandma's favorite curtains, and everything is brown on brown.
Why can't North American RV's have modern interiors? Maybe it's time to start importing over some of the modern stuff they have in Europe, and open up a whole new market for yourself.

Is there decent class-B representation at this show or is this more geared for stuff you tow? I've all but given up trying to get a VW doubleback... looking at alternatives now.

LOL.
I have been walking through them, and some of them seem pretty modern to me. Hardwood floors, leather couches, stainless applainces, fireplaces.....
How long has it been since you've been down there?

We've gone 3 years in a row, ha.
Some of them seem to be slowly coming around (mostly the Sprinter Class Bs, which is unfortunately too small for what my dad wants), but the vast majority still seem more traditional/stuffier than what we've seen across the Atlantic. Airstream has some more modern ones but they dont seem to have much of a presence at the show.
And I think for us the desire is to have something that's less of a recreation of a comfy living room with leather chairs and hardwood, but something more cleaner and efficient, and feeling more purpose-built. Ie. a modern Class-C version of the old Westfalia camper (btw Westfalia the company is alive again and making some nice stuff actually...just not in NA).
If you know of anything like this, definitely let me know.

Can he get a travel trailer? If yes, the Alto Safari Condos are pretty sweet ( http://www.safaricondo.com/en/caravanes_R1713). It is a trailer that I would love to buy but unfortunately they are only sold our in Quebec.

So what you're saying is you'd like a trailer in which you can sip lattes vs. gobble down a yop?
