Default Trocheck and Nyquist Fined For Diving

Really glad they're following through with this.

Here is Trocheck, I can't find one for Nyquist though.

A fine means that both have also received a private warning at some point this season as well.

Here's Nyquist

They should fine that ref for falling for that horrible dive.

good. Too bad that there can't be worse punishment than fines, but the public shaming is a good start to get this crap out of hockey.

Good for the league. Keep it up shaming these guys and maybe some of them will start to cut it out.

Yeah that one is brutal, embarassing dive. "That's 9.9 on the Olympic scale" hahah.

Is there any reason they can't just call a penalty for diving without calling the embellished infraction? Maybe I haven't paid attention enough but I haven't seen a diving call made without a slash/trip etc.

Definitely not very common. I think if they want to call both, then the dive needs to be a double minor.

seriously?? That is a terrible acting on that guy. As soon as he felt a slight touch he went down right away and pretending he is hurt?? He should play soccer instead of hockey. Disgusting!

When the Vancouver Canucks cheated their way to the finals.

I am forever grateful for the refs that decided they were tired of being made to look like fools and put their whistles away.

Because the referee bought it.

What is even worse is that call was made to give the Panthers a 5 on 3. Yikes.

I can't blame the refs because they can only see so much.

What I blame is the NHL not using video review for every call. The technology has been around for ages now. It just seems like stubbornness and pride that is preventing this problem from really being fixed.

If we switched to the refs on the ice just flagging questionable situations, which were then video reviewed by an off ice ref there would be no more diving problem. The entire incentive for diving would go away because they would get caught every time. With an dedicated off ice ref it should not slow down the game down as it could take place in 20 seconds or so after the on ice refs stopped play. Another benefit would be increasing the consistency of calls.

Man, Nyquist's is even more blatant. Hopefully tonight the refs will be giving the Wings the cold shoulder all night.

They shouldn't be calling what they don't see.

No thanks. I don't want to spend four hours at the rink. Also, what do you do about non-calls?

I'd be pretty damn embarrassed to be either of them right now, hopefully the public shaming starts to weed this crap out of the game.
