Default PGA'er Robert Allenby kidnapped and beaten

Quote:
PGA Tour player Robert Allenby said he was kidnapped Friday night after missing the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii, according to a broadcast report.

Allenby's caddie, Michael "Mick" Middlemo, told the Golf Channel that the 43-year-old, four-time PGA Tour winner spent Friday night at a wine bar in Waikiki when he was abducted, placed in a car, beaten up and driven 6½ miles away.

According to the report, Allenby said he was robbed of all his cash, credit cards and cell phone. The Golf Channel showed a photo of Allenby that it said he took himself that showed a large scrape above his swollen left eye as well as scratches on his nose.

I wonder if they targeted him knowing who he was, or just went after a random guy/

Robert Allenby on kidnapping: 'I didn't think I was going to survive

Quote:
"I'm just glad to be alive," Allenby said. "I'm still in a bit of shock. I've been checked out by a doctor, and I should be ok.

"You see this in movies," Allenby said. "I've watched 'Taken' and 'Taken 2' a few times. It's kind of like a spitting image. But I'm just very thankful that I'm alive."

"Medically, I thankfully didn't suffer anything major beyond some bumps and bruises that will take a bit of time to heal," Allenby also said in a statement.

He noted that a homeless woman found him after he was found six miles from the wine bar where he sys he was kidnapped.

"Obviously, facial doesn't look too good," Allenby said. "Some people say I look better, but it's more – I think there's a lot of shock in there too."

"A homeless woman found me and told me she saw a few guys pull up and throw me out of a car. I'm still in a bit of shock."

As expected, more info is coming out that contradicts Allenby's story- he was discovered by a homeless woman 1 block from the bar, not 10km.

http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf...bar-not-10-km/

My guess is he owed these guys money for some reason- gambling debt or something, and didn't want to pay. Or possibly even more simple- he passes out drunk and hits face on pavement, some passerby's steal his wallet.

Two homeless people who came into contact with Allenby that night have already disputed major details in his story. Now a third, Chris Khamis, is claiming that Allenby's facial injuries were not the result of a beating, but of Allenby drunkenly passing out and bashing his own face on a lava rock. Moments earlier, Allenby apparently told Khamis that he had just come from a strip club, where he had been hoping to "get some action," and believed that he had been drugged.

After having dinner with his caddie and another friend at a wine bar called Amuse, Allenby began talking with two men and a woman inside the bar. They left the building together at 11:06 p.m.
A few minutes later, somebody used Allenby's credit card to purchase two bottles of tequila at a local liquor store. Allenby claims that there has since been a $20,000 bill run up on that card.
About 20 minutes after he left the restaurant, two homeless men found Allenby passed out on a corner 100 yards from Amuse. The men say that Allenby was out of sorts, and asked them where "the third guy" was, who was apparently supposed to come and pick Allenby up.
Allenby is next spotted at a strip club one mile away from Amuse. Multiple witnesses who were at the club confirmed with GolfChannel.com that Allenby was there that night and rung up a $3,400 tab with a "group of friends."
At 1:00 a.m., the same homeless men who had come across Allenby earlier in the night found him again, about 50 feet from where they first found him. This is when, according to the homeless men, Allenby nodded off and busted his own face up when he fell onto a rock.
At about 1:27 a.m., Allenby was helped into a cab by a homeless woman named Charade Keane.

I havent read all the articles, but how are they finding these homeless people to get the details? It isnt like they have the internet or cable and i'm sure arent exactly co-operative when it comes to the police coming up and asking them stuff.

I think it has been a lot of Australian press looking into it and found all these people. He is probably a bigger celebrity figure down there and they won't let this slide.

He hasn't really changed his story, but is now emphasizing the notion that he simply doesn't remember the 2 hour time window.

Starting to look more and more like he just got hammered at a strip club, passed out after and was robbed. Was told when he woke up that he had been kidnapped. I can also buy that someone possibly slipped something into his drink in a targeted robbery.
