Ah deserves it's own thread imo. I'd be choked if I was a Team Germany and fan they held onto that long to send him back to Jrs anyway.
A monkey could have told you he wasn't ready for the NHL yet. Edmonton's management are more stupider than a monkey though

Oilers still have his rights for 7 years after this one since he played less than 40 games I believe.

Kelowna now has Draisaitl and Morrissey. Rocket Raiders!
On a more serious note, Kelowna was already stacked enough and now they're going to be ridiculously good. I think they win the Memorial Cup this year.

I feel bad for the guy. He comes over from another country with english as his 2nd language, to live out his dream of playing NHL hockey. He probably had no idea the Oilers were this bad. And he has to go through crap like the booing tunnel and incompetent management on a daily basis. I hope he can find a way to get the hell outta there.

- Moved to foreign country with little english
- lived in Prince Albert (of all places)
- drafted by Oilers (of all teams)
- plays for Oilers, gets booed at home, hung out to dry
- Oilers refuse to release him for WJHC
What a rough start to a career. The Oilers releasing him to go play in Kelowna is probably the best thing that has happened to him so far.

On the plus side for Leon, he's got one year of that pesky entry level deal out of the way. One year closer to a big pay day.

How can we expect Hollywood to come out with any cutting edge comedies when the Oilers just keep raising the bar?
Pretty soon they are going to get their own episode of South Park.

The only move was this move, unfortunately it came so late. The joke with Tambelinni was he sat around and thought things through too much...seems that is MacT's flaw so far too. Well, one of the flaws.

I assume they'll probably wait until this junior trade officially happens. Jim Mathewson said it did, but someone from tsn said it didn't.
Watch what'll happen - some obscure CBA rule will prevent this from going flawlessly.

I believe the WHL trade can't be announced until the World Jrs are over as one of the guys is playing for Switzerland.

from what the article, i think players who are still participating can't have their rights traded. so maybe the trades you have in mind involved players who weren't on WJ teams which haven't been eliminated yet?

No it's not really a rumor as many people have reported it. Sportsnet has said it also.
