Icon59 Dreger: Hall is the face of the Oiler's culture problem. I expect him to be shopped

Bruce Arthur @bruce_arthur
.@DarrenDreger, on TSN Drive right now, just said he expects Taylor Hall to be in play between now and the trade deadline.

Hope_Smoke
‏@Hope_Smoke
Dreger said he believes Taylor Hall will be shopped/discussed. Said Hall isn't willing to adapt. Dreger said he's choosing words carefully

Hope_Smoke
‏@Hope_Smoke
Dreger on TSN Radio "Taylor Hall from a culture standpoint, not a on the ice standpoint hasn't been what they thought he would be"

Quote:
On the firing of Dallas Eakins and what’s next:

“... These players will be embarrassed that Dallas Eakins had to go down because of their inability to respond. It’s not one player. It’s the collection of players that make up a sagging work ethic and lack of culture. But if you wanted to put a face on it, or a name to it, that’d be Taylor Hall. Taylor Hall, at least again from a culture standpoint - more in the room, not necessarily on the ice – hasn’t been what they hoped he would be.

“And so when MacTavish looks into his crystal ball and tries to see what might come his way via trade, he’s got to be looking to the trade deadline. And then beyond that obviously looking at the draft floor. Because if you’re moving a piece like Taylor Hall, and I believe that Taylor Hall will be in play, then the rate of return is always best when teams have flexibility in the summer.”
Quote:
On how he must be a remarkable disappointment off the ice, if of all of those names that could be in play, Taylor Hall is on that list:

"Yeah. I think it speaks from a willingness to adapt. So I am choosing my words carefully in saying that. I don't - I'm not in that room... We gather our information from the sources that we have and my sense is Taylor Hall has a pretty specific way/vision of how he sees he needs to play, and maybe how the team needs to play. And he isn't really open to the idea of change. And that's a problem."

They're going to want a ridiculously lopsided return. Tyler Myers asking price x3.

That being said, if you could duct tape his mouth shut and let Hartley brainwash him out of the Oiler's stink, I'd take him at a fair price.

added to the OP Dreger says that Hall is unwilling to adapt and from a culture standpoint Hall isn't what the Oilers expected him to be

Why wouldn't he be in play? They are a terrible hockey team and maybe he is part of the problem.

Edit: After reading what Sureloss posted, maybe his attitude is bad and causing dressing room problems. If you think our record is bad since the vets came back, look at their record since Hall came back.

Dreger on TSN Radio "Taylor Hall from a culture standpoint, not a on the ice standpoint, is exactly what they were creating from the beginning"
Fixed that tweet.

Understatement of however long the Oilers have been rebuilding.

His attitude is terrible, you can see it on the ice.

Something around Hall going to Buffalo and Myers / Stafford / pick to Edmonton would be a good trade for both teams.

I ####ing hate this drivel. Everyone is available for the right price. If Dreger actually reported what that price was, it would be an actual story.

if stuff like this keeps coming out they are going to get the Tyler Seguin return rather than the monster offer they should be getting

him and RNH are their only legitimate building blocks, the only two who can be top 6 on a playoff team, getting an undervalued return for one of them pushes them back another decade

Here is the ideal trade IMO for the Oilers

Strome, Reinhart, 2nd
For
Hall

Edmonton gets 2 top 5 picks in positions of major need and the Islanders get a sniper to play with Tavares for the next several years. If also doesn't hurt that NY would only be paying $1M more for Tavares+Hall than the Hawks would pay for just one of Toews and Kane per season.

What exactly culture change did they expect him to have too

he's 23 years old and has never been on a winner, hes surrounded by garbage, how many kids are ready to lead at 23 after having been given veteran guidance, impossible situation

I hope they trade him and he starts putting up 40 goal seasons instantly

What's happening in Edmonton? Has MacTavish had some sort of epiphany where obvious moves suddenly start to make sense?

If anything I would suspect Bob Nicholson may actually be taking charge
