Everything looks normal again once I closed Chrome and re-opened, but I've never seen anything quite like that. It was on every page too, on unclicked links.

This is happening again quite frequently today.

It's some kind of problem with Chrome. I've been seeing it for the last few days. If you close the tab and re-open it, it seems to fix it.

Yeah, I've been closing out of Chrome and then re-opening, which temporarily fixes it. But it's cropped up again very quickly each time. I think it's related to the DirectWrite settings, which were discussed here. I've "diasbled" the Disable DirectWrite option (that's not intuitive!) now, and things seem to be OK now.

EDIT: I enabled this again, as DirectWrite was making other sites I visit just as messed up.
