Thanks for the Game Takes, Bingo! It's strange to see Gio as the goat but his decision-making leading up to the last GA merits it; think there's been too much blame going to JH for the blown tire while carrying it in - don't think a dump and chase was merited or such commitment to the attack a good idea at that point in the game. Happy to agree that Gio and Brodie are returning back to form (especialy TJ after the past few games!)

The tiebreaker actually puts Flames out of playoffs (because we have played more games).

"9th" place in West is no longer relevant or even exist in this format....instead we are 3rd in the wildcard standings.

Yeah sorry guys saw that this morning, NHL.com had it sorted differently last night and mistakedly went with the damn league!

Will be interesting to see if a young loose team can shake off a lack of bounces (3 of the 5 games) and play the same way, or if that's out the window now that they've been in a playoff spot and are now out. Tight sticks could sink the ship.

I think some of the blame is definitely on Gaudreau on that blown tire, but in all honesty it was an accident. The whole team trusts Johnny to stop on a dime and dish off that puck which was clearly supposed to go to Gio. At that point in the game they were running the full-court press and everyone got caught when Johnny screwed up.

Sh*t happens is the way I see it. Oh well. Out of the gazzillion times I've seen Gaudreau make that move, this is the first he's actually fallen over doing it.

I agree PMM, except that I don't see falling down as a screw up. It was an accident not poor judgement.

Funny how different people see the same game differently.

I thought Colborne looked awkward and slow.

David Jones on the other hand was skating really well for a big guy. Maybe he is healthy??


Does anyone else see a problem with the small lines in our own end?

The only Flame line that wasn't being dominated was Monahan , Glencross and Jones... basically a line with 3 out of the 5 flames large forwards.


Very disappointed in Bouma and Stajan in not being able to earn more ice time.... they should be better than what they showed.... I thought that Stajan and Bouma should have the size and grit to play with Chicago's big lines. Does any line with Raymond on it become the 4th line?

When the Flames have absolutely no answer for Toews -- Granlund getting dominated... why wouldn't Stajan get more Toews time.... Is Stajan's best before date expired? or not able to re-focus after the injury or not at 100% physically.

Diaz was the most noticeable Flame out there.

Engelland made the defensive play of the game eating up the 2 on 1 caused by Diaz moving forward on a puck he had no chance on.

Russell came in a close second recovering from his stumble.

Great game .... shows the Flames playing near their best are not ready for a playoff series.

Yeah Gaudreau was the reason they scored their only goal so you can't fault him for blowing a tire as that was more bad luck than bad hockey play. This was the first game I can remember this season where the Flames panicked and tried to hold on in the 3rd period for extra time rather than try to win the game. Just goes to show how fragile confidence can be. Right now they really need to hit an opponent on an off night or get some soft goaltending as they are definitely gripping their sticks.

Great writeup. It's a bit early for scoreboard watching though IMO
