So many ways to answer this question, so I'll put up timelines and guys can elaborate after they vote.

I'd say by his readiness, sometime before the end of the season. It will depend on injuries and what happens at the trade deadline.

it Probably takes only one injury to a winger.

I predicted before the end of the season but things are very fluid right now. A few vets don't have clear cut rights to playing time anymore.

He got ten games and put up one point. Too many others on the farm who deserve a chance to show what they can do. I think at most it will be end of the season, and that could have been his only chance this year, if the next player to come up performs.

I prefer him over Byron right now. I think he had more to offer even if he isn't scoring. The future is bright for Ferland. He's a regular by the end of the season I think.

Byron makes life living hell on the forecheck. He absolutely offers a lot.

But Byron isn't the shiny new toy. Ferland is!

My vote is by the end of the season. It's a numbers game, and there isn't much he can do in Addy to force his way back up. He can merely play at a high level and ensure that when an injury or trade happens, he becomes the choice to fill any roster openings.

End of the season, no big rush.

The two things that were missing from his game were points, and showing a genuine mean streak at the NHL level. He was physically good and he sees the open spots on the ice well.

This comes down to what happens to Ern and Bollig, one of those two is probably going to end up on waivers soon.

McGrattan won't be extended, so I think Ferland will be taking Bollig's spot next year and Bollig is the 13th forward who sees the ice every now and then.

I agree with this. Ferland has missed quite a bit of time over the last couple of seasons, and a little more time in the AHL won't hurt him at all.

I might be in the minority, but i'd like to get another look at Hanowski and Agostino at the NHL level

I think it is safe to say he will be the first call-up with the exception of the Flames needing a specific position (i.e. Defencemen, center). Flames are incredibly high on this kid, and everyone knows by now he can fill in a huge role on the team moving forward.

Never said Byron doesn't offer a lot just think Ferland offers more. I love Byron's speed but it is not like Ferland is moving in cold molasses. Ferland forechecks very well as well and I think he is excellent along the boards.

Shiny new toy be damned, this is about hockey and we have an abundance of smallish forwards and right now Byron has the short end of the stick. Ferland looks to be a regular and my guess is, the guy without a contract will be replaced. He has all the tools and the size to boot, something Calgary is lacking.

Ferland needs more time in the AHL before he's a full time NHLer.

Let him play big minutes down in the AHL, no need to rush him.

Byron needs to produce or he's next imo.

Ferland got his cup of coffee, knows what he needs to work on, and needs to go and do it. He'll be back at seasons end, hopefully an improved player.

I would love to see Ferland groomed as the other winger on Gaudreau's line--tough enough to take on anyone that messes with JH and skilled enough to play with him. I think he could thrive in that role.
