Flames anthem singer
So who was the girl singing tonight? She's fantastic, so much better than put-you-to-sleep Canyon and that super lame midi synth. A national anthem should just be a clear, powerful voice with no gimmicks, and she delivered. I really hope this was a tryout of sorts and she becomes the permanent singer, I always have to fast forward the anthem when Canyon sings because I just can't stand it

Couldn't disagree more.
Good singer for sure but I feel Canyon actually sings with heart. This girl and the girl we had for the last few years are just so boring and seemed to take forever. I had to change the channel.
Terrific singers, still waves above some of the American Idol wannabes some teams have, but I prefer Canyon.
The synth needs to go though, for sure.

Strongly disagree.
Canyon is embarrassingly bad. Does not have the voice for anthems, it's a travesty. Have to mute it every time.

I prefer the girl today versus boring Canyon. His anthems put me to sleep.

I have had enough of Canyon. Crowd was "visually" louder than when Canyon is finished "singing"

Canyon sounds like a country singer and the anthem isn't a country song. If he could dump the annoying hick accent, he would be good, but instead he's Edmonton.

She's not bad, definitely some skill but needs to find her own voice, her singing feels so vanilla (going by her youtube videos, didn't hear the anthem).
Some of her videos are weird though, I'd swear they're green-screened to be in front of a window but for no apparent reason, maybe to edit out the voice mic for some reason? Made me think she was lip syncing at first.

Its funny, any time there's a singer other than Canyon the Flames have them sing it a cappella...

Like all things music, it all has to do with preference. I don't like country, therefore i prefer the girl tonight over Canyon. I think they're both talented but when it comes to anthems, as long as they aren't butchering it I honestly don't care. In Canyons defence, we're a country town and it seems fitting for his particular style to represent us.

I absolutely 100% positively hate (with an extreme passion) country music. God awful. So I didn't like him to begin with.
But even my friends who love country music thinks he sucks.
When people who love country music (which vocally sounds pretty much the exact same) thinks he sucks, he probably sucks.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I think the fact that lots of country fans dislike him speaks volumes.
Sorry to rant, but my hatred of country music runs as deep as my hatred for the Oilers. I think you all get the point.
Canyon, even for country music, is NO GOOD.
