So did he just find a creative way to say he's being weighed down by his contract?

If anyone should be pissed off it would be the Jets ownership.
First year on his 6 million dollar contract and has very similar statistics to Josh Jooris
Enjoy it Evander...Mayweather can get away with such antics because he makes in 1 year what Evander will in his career.
Edit: after watching the interview on SN, he was in Vegas during the off season, went on a hot streak and blake wheeler took the photo. Makes it slightly easier to not think he is a complete idiot and most likely had a few drinks with the guys in vegas and made a stupid choice.

All well and good, except I hope he remembers this if hes one of the athletes that go broke after a few years out of the game.
What is he trying to prove? And to whom?

In all seriousness. When you have withdrawn 4lbs. of cash from the bank, what the hell do you do with it? I mean, sure, you can use it as a substitute for your cel phone, or as an apparatus in your daily workout. But beyond that: I can't imagine walking around town, going to the grocery store, stopping to eat, or even just doing my basic shopping with a sack full of $20s in hand—that wad certainly wouldn't fit in my pockets.
What do you do with it? (once your calisthenics are finished, of course.)

Backing it up as one of the best ever and going undefeated helps Floyd get away with it too.

It depends on the intent.
If it's purely a humorous, don't give a #### thing, then people should rightfully be pointed out as haters. It's actually pretty funny.
If this guy is taking himself seriously in doing this, to try and prove something to people, then it's straight up sad, and frankly shouldn't be given this kind of attention.
Somehow I get the hunch it's leaning towards the latter as the dude seems to take himself pretty seriously. But maybe all of this is just to get people riled up cause he enjoys it. I can relate, as I like to do that around here and the internet for amusement too.

If I was Cheveldayoff I would be picking up the phone to MacTavish and say "have I got a deal for you". Hall and E. Kane were born to play together.

I think what he's trying to say is "I'm overpaid and not intending to care any more, so enjoy my future 45 point seasons Jets fans, I get $5 million+ regardless."

Careful everyone, last time we went down this road, Moon got banned.
I want to like Evander Kane. He makes it so hard. He's Winnipeg personified.

Nonsense and haberdashery!
There are limitless uses for four pounds of cash, such as:
- Weighing down important personal documents
- Burning it for warmth
- Organizing it into standard widths to be used as a measuring tool
- Shredding it up and cooking it into baked goods
- Exchanging it in return for goods and services
- Making 'It Rain'
- Wallpapering an unsightly room
- Getting out of Winnipeg
Countless uses!

He is obviously doing it for the laughs. Isn't it the anniversary of money phone gate?
Hockey fans take themselves way too seriously.
