Which Oilers would you trade for?

I'd worry that Yak would ruin the dressing room. Schultz could be a decent partner in a bottom pairing (> Diaz in my humble opinion)

So basically I would entertain the idea of packaging Schultz and Yak for a 2nd and a 3rd!

I disagree that Yak has a strong enough personality to ruin our room. Could easily see him turn it around in a structured environment

Yak is actually an Oiler who gives a damn.

He's been stuffed into a horrible environment, but I think the kid will be a player. The question is whether the Oilers have ruined him so much he bolts for the KHL.

The last one I would want is Hall, who I think is the #1 reason that room has fallen apart. He might get there one day, but for the next few years Hall is a problem, not a solution.

If we needed a backup goalie, I'd take Scrivens.

Trash Hall all we like, but if anyone could get him thinking defence and team awareness, it's Hartley. RNH if we weren't already bursting at the seams with centres.

The trouble is determining whether they are themselves bad, have bad attitudes, or are a victim of environment and bad coaching.

If I am McTavish, I will definitely trade Taylor Hall and /or Jordan Eberle (not on the same trade) because he can get some good D plus some good prospect or a young player in the lineup, and even some draft picks. Yakupov should go to but he won't get as much return as he will get for Hall or Eberle.
McT can even send us Eberle for Smid and Diaz.. hehehe!!! That way they will get their #1 and #2 defensemen. Then Eberle is going to be put on rehab by the Flames for a week or so to get rid of the Oilers mentality.

Kidding aside, McT will trade Perron for questioning the coaching staff. Then he'll fire Dallas Eakins and put Mark Messier as their new head coach. Katz will then give KLowe a huge raise.

Scrivens is beyond awful. He's a big part of the problem up in Shelbyville. He's a subpar backup goalie at best.

If they finally realize they have to trade one of their treasured top picks, it won't be to us.

I like a couple guys from their organization... criteria is less exposure to their NHL club the better, I think it will take even their talented guys a few years to teach them better habits before they can be more than supporting cast. Draisaitl needs a few years of seasoning in the WHL and AHL but he could still be solid, I don't see better than 2C upside but that's not bad if he realizes it. Klefblom could turn into an OK 3/4 defenceman in a better organization. Nurse will be good eventually but like most young 2 way defencemen, he has at least a 5 or 6 year apprenticeship ahead of him.

I'd like to get Horak back... how long do they keep his rights if he stays in europe?

Hall, Eberle and Yakupov can all play offence, but they have such poor two way games that I think they would be a detriment to many teams unless they really come in with mouth shut and willing to learn new habits. And in Eberle and Yakupov's cases I think their reputation far exceeds their ability... not to say they are terrible, but they are not front line NHL stars.

For what the Oilers are reportedly asking for likely wouldn't trade for any of them. They are a bad trading partner for us at the moment, not just because of rivals, but because what they would want need- top defenseman and top line center- we don't have/want to give up.

Guys who I would want if this is a hypothetical: Hall, Nurse, RNH would be the top 3 by far.

Perron, Eberle, Schultz, Yak are way to dumb defensively and lazy and their offense doesn't come close to making up for that in my view. I don't think they bring near enough to the table to make them positive additions to the team.

The bottom 6 guys plus Purcell and Pouliot who should be bottom 6 are nothing of value so no need for them.

Fayne, Ference, Nikitin, Petry are not upgrades over Smid/Diaz so no thanks.

Scrivens is an upgrade over Ramo as a back-up so I guess I may take him for a 4th or swap with Ramo. Fasth is no good.

The other Oilers prospects including Draisatl have no interest to me at all.
