Amazing Race Canada 2
Apparently the second season of the Amazing Race Canada is starting today. One of the teams is Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson from the Canadian Womens Hockey Team. I seem to remember reading something about the teams needing passports this time so they should get out of Canada.
Anybody watching?

Looks like it's going to be a fun season.
Nat Spooner is one of my favourite hockey players so I'm definitely cheering for her and Mik.

Those 2 girls that got eliminated were weak human beings. I would be embarrassed to know them. It's too cold? Smh...

Yeah, I pegged them to be eliminated first when they were doing the introductions.
(Also predicted the hockey girls to win, they know how to compete through adversity)

What an odd group of people. Seems to be some really odd relationships. Brother and Sister that seem a little TOO into each other. Couple surfer doods that are basically in love with each other. Mother/Son seem VERY close.
Nothing wrong with any of it, just struck me as some crazy relationships.
Spent the first half of the show being VERY underwhelmed with what I head seen so far. Things finally got good at the CF base.
LOL at the kid pounding spikes into the door frame. The way he was wailing on them I figured they weren't going to get them out again.
Was VERY happy to see the two that got elminated...well...get elminated. Really wanted the husband/wife team to stay in the race, they seem like really cool people.

The hockey players and the Quebecois brothers should both go far. Of course, all it takes is one bad taxi driver or a U-turn to finish even a strong team.
It will be interesting to see how much of this year's race takes place outside of Canada. Will it just be a leg or two, or will they surprise the teams by actually flying around the world?
It's a good thing pronunciation wasn't important on the tea service task. It also made me laugh that the only person they showed saying the word "Viscount" was the kid who kept saying it wrong.

Previously.tv spoilers suggest three foreign legs on two continents.

Once again I was disappointed with their visit to Calgary, but the Victoria leg was entertaining.
The hockey girls are going to run away with it

The two guy pair that finished last in episode 2 was very fortunate that one pair war injured and had to quit. They were almost done with the Tofino Chair thing but gave up, what the hell?
No way anytime can avoid elimination if you were slapped with a 6 hour penalty other than one team pulled out because of injury.
Next episode they will go to Hong Kong and should make for an interesting race.

The gay guys might be the worst team I've ever seen on the show, Canadian version or otherwise. They complain and whine and try to do tasks for like 30 minutes before giving up. Shame the cool married couple had to self-eliminate and keep those losers on the show.

That team is on borrowed time on the show. If they think the Tofino chair task was tough, it actually wasn't that tough. The judge was letting anything that holds up go.
Also, never double back on a detour, it never works out.
Still a 6 hour penalty is death sentence to that team unless, well, someone popped their shoulders and had to quit.

that shoulder pop was nasty. Bad luck, as it seemed they were finally getting it together. Still scratching my head as to why the gay guy took his perfectly fine chair apart. Love it that the hockey chicks are kicking ass.

The gay guy team is a joke. I thought they screened applicants before they put them on the show. That team feels like a "token" team, because there has to be one for equality's sake. Either cast a better gay guy token team or put another competitive team on the show.

Completley agree. That team is a disgrace. How many thousands of applicants do they get and these two chumps basically have a hissy fit each episode, totally give up on the last 2 challenges, take a 6 hour penalty and STILL get to stay in the race? I have no doubt there was other much more deserving applicants than these two losers.
These 2 are just basically adult sized children and have no business being in this race.
Feel TERRIBLE for the husband/wife team. Poor #######. Too bad he couldn't pop it back in right away.
Can't beleive next leg is in China, so freakin excited to watch that!

Last year a team skipped a task and the penalty wasn't 6 hour, more like 2 hour or so. The rules must have been changed for this season.

It's a 2 hour penalty for skipping one task. Some teams gamble it if something seems too tough because, while risky, if someone gets horribly stuck/lost you'll be fine.
They skipped TWO tasks, and got a 6-hour penalty, which I've never seen before. Typically it'd be a death sentence, they 'lucked' out by a team getting injured.

Based on watching the US version, I believe it's a 4-hour penalty for skipping a Road Block or Detour and a 2-hour penalty for skipping any other tasks. Since they skipped one of each, it became a 6-hour total for them.
They're likely going to get lucky next week because they're traveling to Hong Kong. Air Canada has one daily flight between Vancouver and Hong Kong, so they likely planned things so every team will get onto the same flight. Ultimately, the 6-hour penalty won't matter.
Taking the two-hour penalty for the surfing task, I can sort of understand. If you know you're not likely to complete it quickly and you know you're ahead of a lot of other teams, it's better to take the penalty early and hope the others can't catch up.
It is ridiculous that they thought it was better to take the 4-hour penalty than try to finish the chair, especially when you see the quality of some of the chairs that passed (I'm not sure why he ripped the one apart that looked fine).

They already have the lesbian team, so they don't really need two "token" gay teams. I think they got picked because Rex is a minor celebrity.
